Hello, Moon. It’s great to be back.
Here’s a taste of what the Artemis II astronauts photographed during their flight around the Moon. Check out more photos from the mission: https://t.co/rzM1P0QbOl
Good morning, world! 🌎
We have spectacular new high-resolution images of our home planet, all of us looking back through the Orion capsule window at our Artemis II astronauts as they continue their journey to the Moon.
Google is now the first cloud provider to integrate 1 GW of flexible demand into long-term utility contracts. Our ability to shift or reduce our energy demand when it’s needed can help utility companies balance supply/ demand and plan for future capacity needs.
This is a big milestone for responsible data center growth and helps keep costs lower for local communities.

We testified today before @housescience on the importance of permitting and transmission reform to America's future. The country's current grid is struggling to keep pace with growth, and modernization is needed to lower costs.
We proposed three solutions. (1/6)
It was great to sit down with @KatherineBlunt to chat about what @Google is doing now (and where we see potential in the future) to use our AI growth to advance new techs, run grids more intelligently, and transform the energy system.

It’s an honor to be part of the @TIME 100 most influential climate leaders this year alongside so many remarkable individuals. Although I was named, this recognition really belongs to many people at Google who have pushed the frontier of our energy leadership over the years.
Heading into 2026 I couldn’t be more excited to keep pushing the limits of what’s possible for advanced energy. I look forward to working with our teams and many of you on the work ahead!

Google is partnering with @nexteraenergy to restart the Duane Arnold Energy Center, Iowa’s only nuclear plant, through a 25-year power purchase agreement.
We expect Duane Arnold to be back in commission in early 2029. The plant will provide more than 600 MW of nuclear energy to the MISO grid and support our growing AI infrastructure in Iowa.

Excited to announce that @Google has signed a deal for the first commercial scale natural gas-fired plant with carbon capture and storage (CCS) in the US.

Super excited to be collaborating with Commonwealth Fusion Systems @CFS_energy to use AI to accelerate fusion development - and move closer to a sustainable future with limitless clean energy
Incredible to see that the energy used for a median Gemini AI text prompt has dropped 33x in only 12 months. This is a huge achievement – and one that would not have been possible without the work of many Googlers and focused efforts to deliver greater efficiencies across the full stack of AI.
AI efficiency is important. Today, Google is sharing a technical paper detailing our comprehensive methodology for measuring the environmental impact of Gemini inference. We estimate that the median Gemini Apps text prompt uses 0.24 watt-hours of energy (equivalent to watching an average TV for ~nine seconds), and consumes 0.26 milliliters of water (about five drops) — figures that are substantially lower than many public estimates.
At the same time, our AI systems are becoming more efficient through research innovations and software and hardware efficiency improvements. From May 2024 to May 2025, the energy footprint of the median Gemini Apps text prompt dropped by 33x, and the total carbon footprint dropped by 44x, through a combination of model efficiency improvements, machine utilization improvements and additional clean energy procurement, all while delivering higher quality responses.
See the blog or technical paper for more about our methodology and ongoing efforts.

First wildfire images from FireSat are here!
FireSat spotted an Oregon fire undetected by existing systems, showing its ability to catch small fires in their earliest stages — an important milestone in our partnership w/ @EarthFireAll & @MuonSpace. More →https://t.co/kxmUK9dhn7
We’re making a long-term bet on fusion energy through our partnership with @CFS_energy. This includes the largest direct corporate purchase for fusion energy, and a new investment to help CFS prove out their promising technology and move it closer to commercialization.
Imagine a world powered by the same energy that fuels the sun and the stars. ☀️✨
Today we’re taking our biggest step so far to make this a reality through an investment and offtake agreement with @CFS_energy (CFS).

Big step forward today on the market change needed to unlock long-term clean energy growth. Last year, we announced a new utility rate structure developed with @NVEnergy that would enable us to scale the clean firm capacity from our enhanced geothermal project with @fervoenergy by 30x. Today the Public Utilities Commission of Nevada approved this new rate, bringing us one step closer to adding 115 MW of new enhanced geothermal energy to the Nevada grid that powers our local operations.
Utilities are critical partners for accelerating the deployment of clean firm technologies, like enhanced geothermal, and we’re excited to replicate this model in other places where new capacity can help grids run more reliably and cleanly.
