This is communism not socialism.
NYC is on the verge of electing a 33 year old communist with no work or executive experience who is promising to make tons of things free, all paid for by people who work for a living, by raising taxes on working people in a City that already has the highest tax rate in the country and has the most people leaving than anywhere else in the country . Oh yes he is also an anti-semite in a City with the most Jews outside of Israel.
All because 5% of Dem voters voted for him and he got the Dem line on the ballot. People like @RepJerryNadler@NydiaVelazquez endorsed him because he got the line. Good comrades.
There is nothing about any of this that makes any sense.
We must continue to resist.
@OneCityRisingNY@GovKathyHochul@RepJeffries@SenSchumer@RitchieTorres@MonaDavids@ycinnewyork@SquarePegDem@Tom_Suozzi@RepDanGoldman@RepGregoryMeeks
please pay attention: @NYCCFB@NYSCOELIG and address this clear violation of election law.
There is nothing neutral or educational about this. The administration is using taxpayer funds to get people to vote yes by saying this will deliver a faster government.
It’s also a big fat lie. What they really want to do is eliminate the possibility of any dissent on any of their plans. They want to be able to give gifts to their special interests without anyone in the community objecting , just like they do in authoritarian regimes.
Every community board president, every city council representative, every community leader, district leader or elected should be objecting to this flagrant misuse of taxpayer funds.
We say : VOTE NO ON ALL FIVE.
@OneCityRisingNY@nyc_evsa
The city is not supposed to spend funds on electoral campaigns so this is "get out the vote" campaign that is HEAVILY implying you should vote a certain way without saying it.
We saw the same thing with the City Council last year, and the year before.
@Stultis_TheFool@DanielDiMartino I understand. I think we just saw El Sayid’s answer differently. I just felt he was being cruel to someone who was not sophisticated.
It’s chaos in Paris. Elections coming up between extreme left and extreme right. It’s really sad to see something like this and makes me very concerned about 2028 in the U.S.
@OneCityRisingNY
Sorry you sound like a reasonable person but I make it a practice not to debate on X. I now understand he might have been a plant or an operative, but that doesn’t change the fact the tone of the convo was not appropriate IMO. Shaming someone within a power imbalance in front of what sounded like a very angry audience bothered me.
@Stultis_TheFool@DanielDiMartino Thank you for the helpful background. I think the exchange was embarrassing and the crowd’s reaction was gross. That is what I was responding and why I posted. This is an ugly race.
This statement is helpful in clarifying the Comptroller’s position . We look forward to when the Comptroller will “ renew his support for Israel Bonds” and execute on his campaign promise.
Supporting Israel bonds are a proxy for support for the right of Israel to exist. That point is made loud and clear by bond holders everywhere. There is no need to confuse it with other issues.
It would also be helpful to have specific information on the change made by Brad Lander and why exactly this prevents continued investment. Israel offers short and long term bonds so it’s not clear why there is a restriction of purchasing these bonds.
I will be buying bonds, currently returning above 6% , and there has never been a default. They are a good investment.
@OneCityRisingNY
This is why the DSA is demanding for the elimination of the SRG unit. That would be the unit responsible to respond to these situations and there’s no way Mamdani will call in the National Guard.
The West is next, unless New Yorkers vote wisely.
Very hard day for so many New Yorkers. Several friends called on the verge of tears saying how they felt betrayed by someone who has always been a strong ally.
It’s really up to Mark how he handles this. I sincerely hope and pray that he sees the light and reverses course as soon as possible, before it is too late. At the very least we need a much better understanding of why this is not political, because right now that’s what it looks like.
And for anyone who blessed this : NO. WRONG CALL.
It is dangerous for politicians to get a taste of what hate can do for one’s political career at this moment in time because we all know it is only the beginning. We must model standing up to hate not giving in to it. Have we learned nothing?
@Megmd514@moshespern@OneCityRisingNY@stick_dynamite@ChBinNYC@Shebbie4nyc
I do not agree with this decision.
Israel bonds are returning over 6% AND Israel has never defaulted on a bond. It is a good investment at a time of economic uncertainty.
It is also a reversal of an important campaign promise. Based on what we know right now, the same analysis is not being applied to the bonds of other countries.
@MarkLevineNYC needs to explain his decision more carefully and fully to his supporters because right now people are REALLY upset. How he says this is just as important as what he says. We really hope he does this soon because right now it just looks like he caved into Mamdani and the DSA.
This has been a tough day for New Yorkers for many reasons. The divisiveness, the anger, the stoking of hate from several elected officials over this and other issues has escalated to an unbearable point. This is not leadership. It is fear mongering and hate mongering. We are fed up.
Today is yet another example of how our broken primary system is causing our elected officials to make very bad decisions in the name of political survival. They are desperate to avoid a primary challenge. But the primary system is broken. it needs to be fixed before it causes more harm and damage.
We need leaders who will chart a different path forward, not more sheep doing anything they can to avoid a primary challenge from extremists. People like @sarithaforny whose fearlessness should be a model for anyone running for office. She is the future.

NEW: In his 10th month in office, @MarkLevineNYC has decided not to reinvest in Israeli bonds, breaking a campaign promise on a particularly fraught issue. He said he still supports Israel, but that the bonds aren’t strong enough investments:

The affordable housing subsidies need serious review because based on everything I have seen so far it looks like this is a recipe for economic doom loop. @GVSHP Head Andrew Berman did an incredible eye opening presentation on what’s ahead at a city club symposium last week that was very detailed. This needs serious elevation.
If you haven’t had a chance to watch the debate, try to attend this tomorrow and hear for yourself what a great candidate NY is lucky to have for Attorney General. @sarithaforny is one of the most refreshing candidates we have seen in years.
I am glad @OneCityRisingNY was an early supporter thanks to our smart members and leadership team. We are s bipartisan group and we call out the best candidates regardless of party.
Mark your calendar for Sunday October 25th for a get out the vote event on the UWS and October 28th for our first ever common sense cocktails in Queens.
You must be on our mailing list to get invitations for these events. We have some interesting candidates coming on the 28th and we’re working on a surprise guest on the 25th.
@OneCityRisingNY
I am hosting an @X Space tomorrow at 5pm ET where I will interview @sarithaforny followed by open mic Q&A.
Saritha is by far the most qualified candidate for AG. Listen to her for five minutes and you will understand why.
