There is NO VAT on the money you transfer. VAT is only charged on the banking fee or commission which has been the case since VAT was introduced in 1993.
Nigerians are NOT being charged 7.5% VAT on the money they transfer. VAT is charged only on the service fee (transfer charge), not on the transfer amount itself.
If your bank charges โฆ50 as a transfer or USSD service fee, 7.5% VAT is โฆ3.75 not 7.5% of the โฆ10,000, โฆ50,000 or โฆ100,000 you transferred.
Commercial banks have always charged VAT on transfer and USSD service fees, in line with existing VAT laws. As far as I know, Zenith Bank and Access Bank have always charged โฆ53.75 (โฆ50 service fee + โฆ3.75 VAT).

Late post, but Hey! I am extremely excited and humbled to say that I have been selected as a 2023 Research Fellow at the American Institute of Dental Public Health (AIDPH).
Don't take the first ten days of Dhulhijjah lightly! These are the best ten days over the year. Look at them the same as you look at the last 10 days of Ramadan. Remind each other. Because most of us do not know about this.
