The subtle creep, the invisibility, and the subsequent normalisation of this ‘narrowing’ is one of the most tragic things I see in my practice. It doesn’t have to be that way for people
Don't Let Your Lives "Narrow"!!
I've been an orthopedic surgeon for 30 years.
The thing I watch happen to people, more than any injury or surgery, is refer to as the narrowing.
Most of my patients have no idea it's happening to them. They think it's just aging. It's not. 🧵

Great thread. To a lesser degree of course compared to those in medicine, but as a physio these kinds of thought experiments have kept me awake at night
Is this a serious question? I’ll assume it is. Let me explain.
You go to the GP a with a sore throat.
GP talks to you, examines you and feels it’s nothing serious.
GP sends you away but gives you weirdly strict safety-net advice for a sore throat.

I never thought I’d say this but people need to think less and train harder. It’s not rocket science. Warmup. Jump- throw- sprint- lift-condition. We can argue about how far, how high, how heavy, how long and which lifts but some version of this done well will surely work.
Over the past 12 months a group representing SES have been working on this exciting initiative, The Irish Sport and Exercise Sciences Association. Delighted to have chaired this group. Looking forward to seeing this association launch on November 8th. RT appreciated
