@ElizabethC72134 That is interesting, I never noticed that aspect, but I did notice the environmental aspect impacting emotion like fires meaning anger, and sun meaning peace and happiness.
@averylittle1941 I agree, I noticed how the camera angle highlighted the different "sides" and how the camera angle sort of "isolates" different races and how they are viewed or view other races.
My first reaction to “Do the Right Thing” was a sense of the seriousness of the racial situation. In the film, you have people who think that they are doing the “right thing” for their community but in reality, it is very hard to argue what is the “right thing” 1/3 #Media1801D02
when you add in the historical, and economic gap and discrimination of race. The irony of the movie titled “Do the Right Thing” with the character’s actions in the film, conflicts with each other. The editing and camera angle allow (2/3)
@karla_lazala I agree, if the government were to control the internet, the same way that they control television, we would see a lot more censorship. The process for the internet is different from tv, there are no editors behind an individual on a web page but there are editors for tv shows
@SanjidaK05 Even if the FCC did regulate the internet, we still wouldn't have data privacy. Instead of big businesses selling our data and tracking us, the government would use the data to track us, which is just as bad. If you are on the internet, you will never have complete privacy
of individuals, not only big broadcasting networks and one can’t stop individuals from other parts of the world from sharing content, and the US government can only control so much in the US and abroad. The environment between TV and internet is different. (3/3) #Media1801D02
I do not think that the FCC should regulate the Internet, the way that they regulate network television because a lot of major television networks work for the government or give money to the government. Network television has editors who edit and filter out (1/3) #Media1801D02
things and their audience is usually towards the American people. The government plays a huge role in the monopoly and businesses of network television so they should be subjected to government FCC regulation. However, the internet media environment consists (2/3) #Media1801D02
@ElizabethC72134 This ad for these products are up everywhere, this video is very strategic, they put all the things that make sound float when she presses on her airpods, to cancel out the noise and then when she hears all the voices, all the sound making cars, vendors- drop down.
@ljonathan180 I agree, Nike and many other companies will use celebrities as a tactic to try to gain a bigger audience. Some people look up to celebrities and compare themselves to the prefect “idol”, then they might feel the need to buy the product to make themselves better.
I see this CUNY ad everywhere, I go to CUNY and it is cheaper compared to a lot of universities, people don’t come out with huge debts (you pay for what you get). The target audience is for seniors in high school or anyone looking to go to college and get a degree.

@SanjidaK05 On one hand, cable creates new communities (from political, social, and economic beliefs) with fresh perspectives on important issues but on the other hand, the new communities have caused more division and extremism in beliefs- the obvious highlight of the issues and inequities
@pppppyq06 I agree that cable can strengthen community bonds as people know more about and relate more to other people who they might not even know but it can also strengthen people's inherent bias and extremism as people tend to view media that they agree with.
Ex: In politics, if a person doesn't agree with the typical leftist or rightist views then they are likely to get assaulted by those parties- I find myself not being able to express truthful opinions that sway away from the typical views of a certain community, even among friends
Cable and news channels like NBC and ABC help us gain a sense and more awareness of our community- the good and the bad and the world that we live in. They also connect us to events that we might have never known on the other side of the world and now can be known

The way that traditional news outlets have turned out to be with capitalism and political lobbying, has created a sense of extremism and fractured a lot of relationships. Now people can’t voice their most honest opinion without being canceled by extremists.

@I_like_frogmoji I agree, In the US, we have a lot of freedom in media that isn't controlled or censored by the government but because of this freedom, there are diverse media with all sorts of content and opinions and this could lead to gaps in social, economical, cultural and political beliefs
