With a traditional Independence Day parade impossible during wartime, Ukraine chose a different format.

A Russian state bank sees no reason for optimism: its chief economist predicts Russia’s defeat in the war

Andrei Klepach, chief economist at Russia’s VEB, said Russia will not be able to win a war of attrition as long as Ukraine continues to receive Western support.

According to him, after the wartime growth of 2023–2024, the Russian economy has entered a downturn.

Investment is falling, civilian industries are in recession, while sanctions and Ukrainian strikes are increasing costs.

The economist compared the current situation to the February Revolution and the collapse of the Soviet Union.

He does not expect Russia to collapse, but believes the country will almost certainly face a social crisis and fall even further behind the rest of the world.

Magyar’s party takes full control of the Hungarian parliament

Tisza wins 141 out of 199 seats — a constitutional majority, even higher than expected. Orbán is left with just 52 mandates.

The new government will be able to amend the Constitution and dismantle the system Orbán built over 16 years.

The main priority is money. Hungary urgently needs frozen EU funds, and negotiations with Brussels are already underway.

🔥 End of the Orbán era. The opposition secures a constitutional majority

The Tisza party has officially won the election, taking 138 out of 199 seats with 98.67% of votes counted — above the 133 needed for a constitutional majority.

Viktor Orbán’s Fidesz, together with its allies, secured 54 seats, while the “Our Homeland” party got 7.

Turnout hit a record high of 77.8%.

Péter Magyar has already been congratulated by Ursula von der Leyen and Volodymyr Zelenskyy.

Orbán’s party had been in power for 16 years — now Hungary is entering a new political chapter.

A new prime minister will be elected within 30 days.
