Today is the Feast of St. Robert Bellarmine, a Jesuit theologian, cardinal and Doctor of the Church. His tomb in the Church of St. Ignatius Loyola in Rome is near the tomb of St. Aloysius Gonzaga, a Jesuit who died at age 23 after caring for plague victims. For all his learning, Bellarmine was a humble man. Often, when Bellarmine would be asked about a spiritual insight, he would say, "I learned that from Aloysius."

He has inspired generations, & as we remember him today, we recommit ourselves to carrying forward that work.
