@TheAnfieldWrap There’s 3 managers that wouldn’t have been a gamble. Klopp, Pep, and Enrique. All 3 of those weren’t going to happen. Can we not doubt the new coach before he’s even signed his contract?
Definitely had to go, just sad after after an incredible year romping to the title with memories which will last a lifetime. Good luck in the future Arne
@redbhoyburn If Konate didn’t sign or agree to be sold by 1st September last year, you make sure you got enough defenders and drop him from squad for his last year !!
Sounds brutal and costly, but I doubt anyone else would try it again so the club would save in long run
Liverpool didn't sign a single first-team player in the summer of 2019 after winning the Champions League.
In 2021 they signed one: Konaté.
In 2022 they signed one: Núñez.
In 2024 they signed one: Chiesa.
These quiet transfer windows always catch up with you eventually. That's why we ended up needing six first-team signings last summer and will probably need another six this summer.
You can't keep kicking recruitment problems down the road and expect the squad not to age, decline or run out of contract at the same time.
All gone quiet on the Konate deal hasn’t it? Looks like he’s gonna slip out the door today then, he’s played a blinder here, our attention has been elsewhere and he’s off no hassle. The way the club let highly expensive players run their contracts down is incredible
@dfitzgeralds@EoinMacMahon2@thatrexguy At some point the club will have to drop a player from the 1st team for the last year of their contract if they won’t renew or be sold. This seems crazy I know but if it deters others from doing so it could save untold millions
