The pressure shells for #Spacelab were made in Turin 🇮🇹, where today - more than 4 decades on - modules for the lunar #Gateway station & private @Axiom stations are currently taking shape, in a facility now run by @Thales_Alenia_S https://t.co/kQdjBf7gur
How it started: How it's going:
From @ESA's pioneering #Spacelab module aboard the @NASA Space Shuttle 40 years ago to the latest plans for habitation modules around & on the Moon: https://t.co/kQdjBf7gur
A picture says 1000 words. Today's @NASA Image of the Day, features a rendered image of Gateway's International Habitat (I-Hab) module. @esa@JAXA_en https://t.co/m6feuMaBXF
We're all about making connections - literally. Check out how @NASA_Gateway, @ESA and @NASA_Orion are working together to dock future modules: International Habitat (I-Hab) and Esprit European Refueling Module (ERM).
Room to grow on Gateway!
Gateway’s International Habitat provided by @esa enables longer crewed missions and more scientific research capability.

As a result of @esa, @nasa & @Thales_Alenia_S analysis, with key contribution from @Astro_Alex, the International Habitat (I-HAB) has successfully passed the Crew Systems Preliminary Design Review, bringing us one step closer to the new #European "home" on the @NASA_Gateway.
Partnership across the globe 🌎
It takes a team to build humanity’s first space station in lunar orbit. @NASA is collaborating with @ESA, @csa_asc, and @JAXA_en to usher in the new era of deep space exploration and discovery.
“We are contributing to and creating the next step in human space exploration, which is Gateway. This really is a new era.” - Mark Wagner, I-Hab baseline verification, assembly, and integration team lead @esa

📷 A warm welcome to our newest colleagues and aspiring astronauts who just arrived at our European Astronaut Centre in Cologne today. All are set to start their year-long basic astronaut training. More pics 👉 https://t.co/Cu86azCdGG
Stay tuned! #ESAastro2022
The International Habitation (I-HAB) Module, with contributions from all of our international partners, enhances Gateway’s deep space exploration capabilities- and now we’re celebrating its first weld at @Thales_Alenia_S in Italy!

Recently at @JAXA_en, teams hosted a Preliminary Design Review of the JAXA-provided Environmental Control and Life Support System (ECLSS) for the International Habitat (I-HAB). Great progress was demonstrated with a close-out review in the near future.
The International Habitation Module has contributions from all of Gateway’s international partners. Recently, teams from @ESA, @CSA_asc, and @JAXA_en traveled to @Thales_Alenia_S in Italy, to refine the layout of external components on Gateway’s I-HAB.
Under #Artemis, we'll build @NASA_Gateway, a lunar space station where @NASA_Astronauts can live and work, conducting valuable science to help us thrive in the deep space environment. Two Gateway habitats are in development: https://t.co/FgEQnCbJ86
Take a look at ERSA 🔎
On Gateway’s Power and Propulsion Element, @ESA’s European Radiation Sensors Array will monitor solar and cosmic radiation, a primary risk to people and equipment during deep space travels.
