I’m trying to get my head around today’s “chaos” at Chicago Public Schools. For regular students and families, is CPS any more chaotic today than in the past?

The devastating, violent killing of #JordanNeely reflects so much about what is broken in our city. It's an indictment of the mayor's failed approach to public safety. Jordan was a human being. He was our neighbor. His life mattered. May his memory be a blessing. זכרונו לברכה
Meet my Transition Committee and Subcommittee Co-Chairs!
I’ve long said that in order to build a better, stronger, safer Chicago, we need everyone who can help at the table. That’s what’s reflected in these appointments. https://t.co/hxuai10lOx

FULL STORY: U.S. Rep. Jesús “Chuy” García endorsed Cook County Commissioner Brandon Johnson for mayor of Chicago on Friday, urging Chicago progressives to unite behind his former rival to defeat former Chicago Public Schools CEO Paul Vallas. @wttw https://t.co/TC2dvwYiAp
.@Brandon4Chicago knows the struggles of working families and the need to stand up for strong unions, make the rich pay their fair share, to invest in affordable housing, quality health care, better schools, and good jobs. That's why I'm proud to endorse him for mayor of Chicago.
JCUA Votes is working to elect Brandon on April 4.

~10% of Chicagoans identify as a person with a disability.
That's why we're going to make our city programs and services accessible for all. And we're going to ensure that Chicagoans with disabilities become more economically secure + better supported in their home communities.
🧵 Good morning everyone! Today I’m joining the U.S. House of Representatives as the Congresswoman for the 3rd Congressional District of Illinois. I’m going to post throughout the day so you can join along with me and get the inside look of how Congress kicks off the year.
It is unfortunate that this decision is in the hands of a right wing Supreme Court. I know many have been worried about student loan repayments resuming. Extending the pause on repayment until June 2023 is good news. Our work isn't done until student debt is cancelled outright.
The #BringChicagoHome campaign would be a transformative measure to end homelessness in this city, yet 25 alders couldn't even come to a City Council meeting to discuss it. Profoundly disappointing for housed and unhoused Chicagoans but we keep fighting.
I'll be in DC all week for New Member Orientation and we are kicking things off by spending our first full day with the new members of the Congressional Progressive Caucus. I'm thrilled to have such a powerful and diverse group of progressives to work with in my first term.
Today, I officially announce my candidacy for mayor of the city of Chicago.
The time is now.
Our time is now.
Let’s build a coalition, and chart a path to the fifth floor of city hall.
Together.
Proud to receive the endorsement of Senator @BernieSanders.
He understands that working people in #IL03 want and deserve a proven progressive leader fighting for them in Congress. I am excited to partner with Bernie in growing our movement.
