@therealaguindon I hadn't thought about it this way, but I completely agree. I can see the purpose of a dj, but will always appreciate the music and atmosphere more when there's a live band. #W23POPMUS
@liamcroucher4 You're so right. I do think there are a limited few live performances that young people would go to see rather than listen to the recording. However the cover band would have to be something special, not just any old band #W23POPMUS
I think Wald is somewhat right, It's very hard for a live band to replicate the original, so young people may choose to listen to a recording instead. But I also believe if a live cover band was as good as the original, people wouldn't hesitate to go see a live concert #W23POPMUS
@BaileyRubyFord You're so right. There is a huge difference between appreciating a culture and appropriating a culture. The white middle class during this period took POC's music for their own financial gain, not to appreciate their talent or hard work #W23POPMUS
@kdeeringmun I 100% agree. So many songs today are just samples or covers of already popular songs, and I enjoy them but only when I know proper credit has been given to the original creator! Otherwise it is absolutely "Schlock", no matter how "good" the music sounds #W23POPMUS
Artist's often use each others ideas by sampling a track or doing a cover of a song with their own spin on it. The white middle class during this period were not only using black artists ideas, but stealing it by not giving proper credit and it was absolutely "Schlock" #W23POPMUS
@ceparsons01 I felt Charles' passion throughout this song. You can tell how meaningful the song was to him. I think he definitely got his message across. #W23POPMUS
One of the main reasons why a voice can break while singing is vocal fatigue. Ray Charles was a black man living in a time when he had to work harder than any white person to catch even a small break. He was extremely tired which would've had a huge impact on his voice #W23POPMUS
@mckenziecaul I think you're so right. I was never considering buying AirPods due to the price, but got them on a deal when buying another apple product; now I can't imagine not having them. They've made it much easier to listen to music while I'm working or just doing daily tasks. #W23POPMUS
@ryleemusic2011 You’re right! It's so strange that having a wire attached to earbuds is now considered cheap and for those who lack wealth. I'd like to think that having wired or wireless earbuds is just about personal preference, but unfortunately, I'd be naive to think that. #W23POPMUS
Streaming services like Spotify have a huge impact on personal identity. When music recaps are shared to social medias, you can learn lot about a person, it’s like getting a glimpse into their soul. It can also influence others to discover new/smaller artists. #W23POPMUS
@Michell42577033 I 100% agree with you Michelle. I often haven't heard of the songs that show up on the top 40 list but then right after, it's everywhere. Like people don't want to like something until other (with the influence of corporations ) make it cool. #S22POPMUS
@cwleamon I agree Colby. Whenever I show my friends my music, I feel like I have to give a warning because it may not be what they expect. But where does this expectation of looking a certain way or doing certain things come from? #S22POPMUS
Popular music has absolutely created “false needs” such as a lack of desire for social connectedness. When individuals are major fans of an artist, said artists can become a “substitute” for getting to know real people in their day to day life. #S22POPMUS
