@BShaw54695459@localharvester@BShaw54695459 you are right - some may want to start their own produce garden so they can swap their home grown food for other things! I think it would be a great way to include all members of the community. Thanks for your input😃.
People can save money AND the environment at the same time (yes you heard right)! I put together an information poster letting you know how. After all, we each have a #community that can reduce #foodwaste. Information was from @localharvester.
#UoNTeach#foodswap#locallove
@KateMac96285166@matildarhayward@surfrideraus@surfingnsw Thank you so much for sharing, I often forget how great and easy QR codes can be for students and the general public when sourcing information! This reminder will help me implement them more often 😃
HOW MUCH FOOD DO YOU #WASTE IN A WEEK?
This could be from leftovers, out of date food, no longer needing/wanting it etc. You could analyse this data in your next maths lesson or when looking at #sustainability goals.
I am using it for #Goal12!!
#UoNTeach#foodwaste
If you would like to know how to implement this in YOUR community, please follow the steps from https://t.co/sAvzfAqwj0 OR message me with any questions.😃
YOU can make a difference!!
Are you/someone you know the owner of a #cafe? With increasing awareness around the harms of plastic packaging, you might want to consider something more #sustainable. I've found a guideline on how you can minimise packaging waste. Your customers will thank you! #DoTheRightThing
A great read from Burns (2018), highlights that #farmersmarket in a town brings the #community together! Participants interviewed state that they went there for ethical #consumption while others were devoting money to the community. Does your town have a local market? #UoNTeach
@EliseCl71487828 @tomara_brown Wow! I received this package in the mail today from @betterpackagingco - it instructs you to put the bag in a worm farm instead of a bin! I thought this might be a great brand for your class to do some research in and see how they strive for #zerowaste. Let me know how it goes 🙂
@callamhutley Awesome! This would further be helpful when showing students how heat emitted from harmful greenhouse gasses gets trapped in our atmosphere (test temp in and out of greenhouse).
The link below highlights what plants thrive in a greenhouse environment😃https://t.co/jIvuisVEEQ
@AbbeyDean6 I love that idea. @WeGoBack2Nature have great eco-friendly packaging for your food goods that are 100% compostable! You can order in bulk too (great for a canteen). #dineresponsibly is something I want to promote and share with anyone I can! Check out their page for more.
Wow! This company promote eco friendly packaging for other business to use. Do think #dineresponsibly products are beneficial to your school / community?
Maybe get your Stage 3 students to do a skit on why we should use #ecofriendly packaging, or a fundraiser to purchase some!
Why #compostable#packaging?
1️⃣ “Smaller Carbon Footprint
Packaging”
❇️ Shoppers care about conveniences plus environmentally-friendly packaging
❇️ Help to reduce waste during production. Manufacturing is efficient & minimize 👎 impact.
Can you spot what is wrong?
Look at the #packaging, so much extra plastic that is not needed.
I found this at Coles supermarket.
Every day items like this would be a good way to start a discussion about how companies (like this one) can be more responsible in their #production!
@madicampbell01 I agree. Place-based learning also allows students to meet deeper learning outcomes, be connected to to their world and boosts engagement for both teacher and student. This means it includes all 3 #QTF elements! This photo was from @Getting_Smart, you might find it interesting😃.
@Molly82797510 Love this set out. It also makes it easy for teachers to see who and what we can use around us to make a difference. Check out this link about the benifits of having partnerships between schools and communities. Would be great for students to compare each. https://t.co/KeFaiY4qw4
#Plasticfreemermaid shared an easy toothpaste recipe with just 2 ingredients (link in comments)!
Make it to show your science class what a colloid is or to start a discussion about #DIY for less #production of plastics.
Small changes = big difference! #sustainableconsumer
🗣 #StorySpotlight from @jess.sustainable: "Some helpful tips from the awesome @plasticfreemermaid 🧜🏼♀️💚🌏 She is doing super awesome work!!
This is why I don't use bath products packed in plastic.
Instead I make my own!"

Australia Post is now implementing 5 #SDGs!
Click the link to see how they reduced emissions and recycled tones of material.
A great way to show students how companies can be #responsibleproducers.
P.s Contains heaps of data for your next math lesson 😜

@MissElkin Thank you @MissElkin, so many KLAs in one activity, it's great! You can also look at this in geography and source where other toothpaste companies are from and how it gets to Australia. The #plastic production of every day items can be eye opening, lucky we have alternatives 🥳
