Extremely grateful for the opportunity of joining the cardiovascular disease and ageing laboratory @MayoClinicCVS as a research affiliate. An exciting chapter under the very supportive leadership of @JordanMillerPhD!
@FaisalBakaeen Correct, but a LIMA (unlike SVGs) protects the downstream vessel from development of further diaease. We can agree to disagree, but the LIMA should be placed as proximal as possible, where the diameter of the LIMA (and the target) are larger and the length of the LIMA shorter.

After coronary bypass for acute coronary syndrome, adding ticagrelor to aspirin did not reduce cardiovascular events but increased major bleeding at 1 year, as compared with aspirin alone. Full TACSI trial results: https://t.co/dnIiQbX1qF

The biggest professional honor for a CT surgeon is to be trusted by a colleague with their-or a loved one’s-heart. Thank you @weldeiry and best wishes for a speedy recovery and continued professional success. Millions of oncology patients need your presence way into the future.
The GMC has been lobbying royal colleges to water-down safety guidance for fear that it might affect PA employability.
@DrPhilBanfield asks when did the GMC become the trade union for physician associates? #BMAARM25
"We fight once more for a regulator that can clearly define who can, and who cannot, practice medicine. Today I’m announcing for the first time in over 150 years, we are launching a new BMA register solely for doctors."
@DrPhilBanfield addresses #BMAARM25 calling for doctors to act now and sign the BMA register 👇

Devastating news of the attack on the Prophet Elias Greek Orthodox Church in the Dweila neighbourhood, where it is reported that at least 22 worshippers have lost their lives and scores have been injured, during yesterday’s Sunday service attended by over 300 faithful.
Following up this morning with friends and colleagues in Syria, where there is an overwhelming sadness and uncertainty about the potentially escalating situation and further attacks.
Places of worship, where people are gathered for peaceful prayer and worship, during which they are at their most vulnerable and unsuspecting, should never be places for such deadly statements. Worshippers must never just be collateral damage or objectified statistics.
Praying repose for the departed, healing for the injured, comfort for the bereaved, and protection over an ever-decreasing Christian community in Syria and the Middle East, upon which the danger and risk grows proportionately by the day.

The #17 most read AATS Journals article from 2024 is a "how we do it" study looking at the modified Ross procedure through L-shaped ministernotomy. Read their surgical technique in #JTCVS Techniques to find out why this study ranked high on our list: https://t.co/LOvnyLUY4D
Important ACC ACS Guidelines 2025 Commentary:
"The primary challenge to this otherwise intuitive approach is the lack of a rapid and reliable method for identifying OMI before angiography."
"AI-driven algorithms can enhance the reliability of ECG-based OMI detection"
An aortic prosthesis placed in 1972 which I had to remove almost five decades later in order to gain access for an MVR. It was functioning perfectly. Open AVR on a young patient with a mechanical prosthesis through a full sternotomy is a great operation.

A very unusual occurrence: a large caliber calcified LIMA on a type I diabetic patient with diffuse disease. Only seen it twice in my career. This picture from a decade ago.
I am honored to be a recipient of the 2025 ISMICS training scholarship. Can’t wait to take part in this great event, rubbing shoulders with world class surgeons. See you on Tuesday!
@ISMICS
A privilege to attend today’s funeral service for the Late Pope Francis at the Vatican with my dear brothers, Their Graces, Bishop Bernaba of Rome, Bishop Antonio of Milan and Bishop Kyrellos, co-Chair of the Catholic-Oriental Orthodox Dialogue.
A day of fellowship and an opportunity to see so many of my sisters and brothers from across the breadth of the global Christian Family.
During this year of marking and celebrating the 1700th Anniversary and the legacy the of the Council of Nicaea, pertinent to see Saint Athanasious mentioned in the Litany of the Saints.
Such a wonderfully uplifting and moving @StPaulMinistry Liturgy yesterday at @TheSanctuaryCDL.
So appreciative of our remarkable community, our dynamic Steering Committee and volunteers, our angelic choir (young and old), and our friendships that have allowed for us to call @ByTheWardrobe a home in the City of London.

Concise summary of utter failure of workforce planning in this country as regards the NHS
At what exact point is leadership @NHSE_WTE held responsible @wesstreeting
I repeat- there is not ONE single marker in workforce that is improving
