@TiceRichard Perhaps you should consider the well researched effects of austerity post 2010. Death rates started rising in 2011 and jumped a lot in 2015 though with some fluctuations long before covid. Inequality and rising poverty the likely culprits.

@john4brexit Because they are falliing behind the private sector resulting in bad labour shortages leading to even more leaving due to stress. Its called a labour market. A moments thought would reveal that public sector creates wealth exactly like the private sector.

@_HenryBolton The 'woke' agenda is to a great extent derived from critical analysis of mainstream/right of centre discourse. You can always debate whether critical analysis has reached appropriate conclusions but even rudimentary analysis shows up the gross flaws in your ideas.

@redrumlisa Weber and the concept of market situation makes more sense than Marx in distinguishing middle from working class but whatever scheme you use competing/contrasting economic interests is the basis of class.

@redrumlisa Marx identified more than two classes e.g. in 18th Brumaire and there was alwsys the petit bourgeoisie but he argued that in every epoch the antagonism of two classes was the driver of history.

@IsabelOakeshott It isn't about working hard though is it? It is about successfully positioning yourself in labour, marriage or capital markets generally using your economic, cultural, social and educational capital to advantage your children. 100 hours a week would not do it for most workers
