Wrote this on the radical republican history of Britain for @tribunemagazine - 'The only issue is whether the Left will be ready, and if the labour movement is prepared, at last, to take up the Good Old Cause':
From the Levellers to the Chartists and Tom Paine to Tony Benn, a seam of republicanism runs through much of what is great about Britain – a tradition that is just as much a part of its history as the royal family. https://t.co/TN4vfvqGNa
Today our newly elected councillors entered the Town Hall to collect their passes, sign the papers, and get to work.
No slogans. No excuses. Just action.
The fight for our communities has officially begun.

It is tragic that we are in this position and under a Labour government.
I have yet to meet an educator who believes things have improved since the general election.
Another unfunded pay award would push many schools to breaking point.
That is why our formal strike ballot to #SaveEducation opens on 3 October.

A few days ago, @wesstreeting made a video about us. So we’ve responded... properly.
We all know he wants to be PM. He can start by answering this.
Watch it. Share it. Let’s make sure he sees it.

Different parties. Same old politics.
Redbridge deserves better than managed decline and excuses.
Who are we? Local people.
What do we want? Real change.
What are we? Your voice in Redbridge.
7 May. Vote Redbridge Independents
Transformation doesn’t start in Westminster — it starts in our communities.
People are demanding dignity, solidarity, and justice. That change comes from organising locally, standing up to injustice, and building power together.
This is not a moment for silence.
It’s a moment to stand up.
ENDORSED: We are delighted to announce Jeremy Corbyn has endorsed Redbridge Independents!
In a rallying call, he declared,
"We are the alternative... We are the community. VOTE REDBRIDGE INDEPENDENTS!"

Absolutely amazing event organised by our colleagues at @NewhamIndParty last night. There must have been a thousand people in attendance!
Packed with amazing speakers such as Jeremy Corbyn MP, Iqbal Mohamed MP, Cllr Mehmood Mirza (the next Mayor of Newham) and Cllr Sophia Naqvi.
We had the privilege of our very own party leader Vaseem Ahmed and Cllr Noor Jahan Begum being invited to speak.
The map of East London is changing! Come and join our independent movements in Redbridge and Newham. Let’s make change together at the local elections in May 2026!
20 is the magic number in education.
Class sizes of 20 – Would bring us closer to the European average and improving learning conditions.
20% PPA time – Would make teaching more sustainable and compatible with family life.
A 20% pay rise over the course of this parliament – essential to restoring the real-terms value of teachers’ pay.
A £20 billion investment in education – Would return education spending to 5% of GDP and ensure schools have the resources they need.
JOINT STATEMENT: NO TO 'DUAL CARDING' EXPULSIONS
We absolutely oppose the anti-democratic and cynical expulsion of members of the SWP from Your Party
Conference must be able to vote to remove the ban on dual membership
@DemocraticBloc @DemSocsYP @GMLeftCaucus@translibgroup
I’ve always fought — and always will — for maximum member democracy.
If you believe Your Party should be explicitly socialist, radically democratic, rooted in mass movement and led by our members, not MPs — join me and back these democratic demands:

NATO isn’t about “peace” or “security”. It’s an imperialist war machine. Just look at Afghanistan and Libya.
Arms dealers profit while our NHS collapses, public services crumble and millions of children grow up in poverty.
We must withdraw from NATO immediately.
People don’t need forever wars. They need material improvements to their lives.
Wages, not weapons. Welfare, not warfare.
