EU must stop and reevaluate their migration cooperation with #Libya, stop the return of #migrants and instead take a rights based approach that ensures the protection of rights and dignity. New policies or risk complicity in crimes against humanity. #EUAUSummit#AUEU#AUEUSummit
NEW: Today's #EUAUSummit is a vital opportunity for leaders to address the desperate situation for #migrants & #refugees in #Libya, and implement a rights-based migration response. Read our latest op-ed with @ecre:
Libya is pushing to unlock billions in frozen sovereign wealth. Without reform, that move could cause more harm than good.
In @The_NewArab, Justyna Gudzowska argues that the real issue isn’t the asset freeze—it’s persistent mismanagement, weak oversight, and corruption within the Libyan Investment Authority.
Lifting restrictions without safeguards risks removing one of the last tools for accountability.

As bombs fall on Iran with the promise that force will deliver freedom, there is a country where that promise was already made, and broken. A CIA-trained warlord now controls Libya's oil, its migration routes to Europe, and the bases feeding Sudan's war. He holds no elected office. No one will tell you this story. So I wrote it. My @guardian long read.

The GNU PM sets his 4 conditions to SDF to avert a war in Tripoli:
- Enforce the decree dissolving Judicial Security
- Disband &/or integrate SDF under a GNU ministry
- Hand over Mitiga
- Surrender wanted figures (presumably, Osama Njeim, SDF & SSA cadre) to the Attorney General

Western #Libya now thrown into a frenzy as Haftar's LAAF proceeds with military mobilization that is perceived by some to be the prelude to an eventual offensive on #Tripoli.
More importantly, the LAAF seizing Ghadames would officially mark the collapse of the 2020 ceasefire.
As the conflict in #Sudan continues and more people flee with nowhere to go, I spoke with @AyinSudan about the crimes committed against refugees and migrants traveling through #Libya and why we need to create safe passage and expand the protection space.
Libya's Permanent Representative to the UN calls for removal of Chapter VII measures on #Libya, describes Security Council resolutions as impotent and pointless if Israel is not bound them. #ليبيا

We're watching an Israeli genocide of Gaza.
1⃣ Killed 1500 Palestinians, 450 children, 248 women (and counting)
2⃣ Cut off food, water, electricity to Gaza. Without electricity, phones aren't charged, Palestinians can't record, & Israel can commit genocide in peace.
3⃣ Demands "evacuation" of over 1 million Gazans from the North to South Gaza, while bombing them along the way. This is cover for an impending bombardment and potential ground invasion.
4⃣ Dehumanization of Palestinians by the Western PR machine & media, effectively easing the way for genocide
5⃣ Killing journalists (8 so far) reporting on Israeli crimes, including @Reuters' Issam Abdullah today
6⃣ Targeting hospitals and densely-populated areas with white phosphorous, a chemical weapon
This is the history of genocide you read about in textbooks. God is watching. Be on the right side of history.
Special Rapporteur’s report finds women HRDs in #Libya are routinely subjected to attacks which have effectively forced them out of public life.
Supported by input from @LibyanJustice
Humbled to have shared this panel with relentless women HRD’s who reminded us of the urgent need for solidarity and accountability from the international community. Thank you @cvoule for your commitment to civil society in #Libya and across the world.
Today at #HRC54, @UNARC_global hosted a side event where Black migrants/defenders in Europe discusses their personal experiences with migration, what is happening more broadly in their region, and what solutions communities are seeking.
“Law enforcement starting from our countries of origin, countries of transit and countries of destination in Europe have refused to acknowledge our presence and have acted willingly to violate our rights.
As for our identity; it goes beyond what resolutions and mechanisms or human rights states. Despite our marginalised status we have acted as a solidarity where the support from the common people never existed, We have acted as a solution to what the governments failed to deliver, we have acted as firsthand journalists to document and tell our stories , our resilience and the hope we have given to ourselves is an identity beyond what is written in papers.
As for politics, our presence is just a mere object to be used by politicians both in Africa and Europe; but today we ask our states and governmental institutions, politicians, policymakers and all parties to humanise our existence, to humanise migratory policies.”

I don’t want to believe we live in a world that would ignore the calls for #Accountability made by thousands of victims and their families from East #LibyaFloods
Together with @defender_center@LCWNGO@Tahraly, LFJL launch the 'Accountability Action Group' to call for the establishment of an independent international mechanism to investigate the Libyan state’s responsibility for the #LibyaFloods.
