@JoePatrick I think it's also the crowd. They were waiting for something to cheer for instead of being loud from the get go. It was shockingly quiet in Seattle for the vast majority of the game. Several times on the broadcast you could hear the coaches and players yelling on the pitch.
@hotdamhistorian So the team I follow, Manchester City (yes I'm a bandwagon fan), begins their league in August, and then will play matches mid-week beginning in October or so in one of those other competitions (FA Cup, Carabao Cup [two domestic cups in England], Champions League).
@hotdamhistorian Elite Euro teams are in several simultaneous competitions. 1) Their league. No playoffs, winner has most points at end of a season. 2) Domestic cup. Tournament including all levels of leagues in a country. 3) Champions League. Tournament of all top teams on a continent.
@SalLetoFF That's awesome that you played in Europe. I was 14, remember coming home and hearing that we had qualified by beating T&T. IIRC, 1990 was on WTBS, hosted by a young Ernie Johnson. Wish we could combine the heart and grit of that generation with the technical ability of this one.
@wearelostkings@jmthrivept He was a starter for Fulham for several seasons and was one of our better players last world cup. But he's been the weak link today.
@SoccerwithDoug Was there contact? Yes, therefore not a dive and no card. Did Kane drag his feet to initiate contact? Yes, therefore not a foul and no penalty.
@Ihartitz As soon as they were eliminated from postseason convention, they went on a winning streak. They're basically Jacoby Brissett. With the Rams holding their 1st, you'd have thought they'd have been more motivated.
