My wife accused our housemaid of trying to poison my 20-year-old daughter. But what the girl told me made me question my own marriage.

I have always treated our housemaid like my own daughter, even though she was born to another woman. I believe family is about love, not blood.

I work long hours, so I'm not always at home. But I make sure everyone has food, comfort and everything they need.

One afternoon, I received a call that my daughter had been rushed to the hospital. I abandoned everything and rushed home.

When I asked what had happened, my wife told me that our housemaid had poisoned my daughter's food.

I was furious.

I confronted the maid and demanded an explanation. She started crying.

"Sir, I didn't poison her. Your wife has been threatening me for months. She sometimes refuses to give me food because she doesn't like how well you treat me. She even warned me to stop enjoying the comfort you provide."

Then she explained something that caught me completely off guard.

"Sir, the food your wife gave me was what I later gave to your daughter. I wasn't hungry, so when I saw your daughter complaining that she was hungry, I gave it to her to eat. I never imagined something like this would happen."

I couldn't believe what I was hearing.

Then she said something that left me speechless.

"Sir, your wife told me that if anything happened to your daughter, you would have no choice but to send me away. She has been threatening me because she believes you treat me too well."

I slowly turned towards my wife, who had been standing quietly throughout the conversation.

I asked her to explain herself.
