@Trudgeteacher I agree with Djokovic, but it can be a great silo for all my ideas I have had on teaching that topic in the past that would otherwise be lost. It is also a great prompt for when I have just dealt with a behaviour issue and provides a secure feeling for full teaching days.
@H0H0v If we redefine the + symbol such that a+b = f(a,b) = ab + a then we create a nightmare situation that ab+a = (a^2)b+ab = (a^3)(b^2)+(a^2)b which would only be ok if a=b=1. So let's stick to 8+11=19
@ShakinthatChalk Quote from one of my (not strongest) A-level students, "if I did my GCSEs now, there is no way I wouldn't get a 9". I was inlined to agree with him.
@AhmedKhattabUK I bet that teacher really helps an EAL student in the future. It would really help that EAL student if the teacher shows that student how to overcome a couple of hurdles in a domain that that teacher had to grapple with. Especially as I bet that teacher crushes the resit.
@sonukg4india P=24 is clearly correct if x is 3. If x is -3 it wouldn't be a triangle but at no point does it claim to be. You would have a 1D line of modulus length 2 which simultaneously has a perimeter of 0 and 4.
