Have you ever been confused about how to define and calculate relatedness?
@matishalin and I try to offer some guidance in this @CSHLPress paper.
In the special issue stemming from the Mendel at 200 symposium organized by @mendel_random

Automated behavioural analysis using machine learning is great, but still needs lots of effort to curate training data. What if a computer could generate that data for you? Say hello to replicAnt https://t.co/LtCipnE59E #OpenSource
How is evolution like sharing a pizza? Tom Scott and I answer that deep (dish) question in our new Proc B paper. We use the zero-sum nature of evolution to develop inclusive-fitness models. Check it out at https://t.co/3EpaZWOskY @westernuMath@OxfordBiology
4-year #PhD studentship available. Using evolutionary game theory, mathematical modelling, and #MachineLearning to study multidrug adaptive therapy for #neuroblastoma. Waiver covers international fee. https://t.co/oUNA4YMER7
Work with us! We're hiring a Research Assistant or Associate to work with Senior Research Fellow @MartaHalina on 'The Major Transitions in the Evolution of Cognition' project. Find out more at: https://t.co/kvEemWH3Ic 🧠🐙🐦⬛
Cool approach to #LLM output optimisation. Do an evolutionary search using the LLM to evaluate fitness and generate variants.
Not sure how to view the consequences of using the LLM to generate and evaluate.

@BobMaline@StuWest8 Not sure exactly your question but yes changes in chromosome number can cause reproductive isolation. Usually ploidy changes tend to bad so it's relatively rare as a source of variation at least in vertebrates think it's more common in plants.
New paper out with @StuWest8
The first paper in my research plan to try flesh out the theory on between species major transitions.

Paper on optic flow finally out! Trigger fish use visual density to estimate distance and control speed. And they do it in a slightly different way to terrestrial animals!
