@trivet1806 Not going to cut it. Saying ‘we dropped the ball’ after narrowly missing apprehending a suspect might be understandable. Not after ‘we spent 4 months actively investigating someone for spurious reasons’
@ifellonithonest I’ve enjoyed seeing all the usual suspects (Andrews, Lester, Mitchell) beclowning themselves to defend an obvious fraud, while unwittingly admitting that their fields of study are complete garbage.
@bartramsgob@hellothisisivan It’s quite sad seeing people who would normally see right through a guy openly professing to be the “greatest trader/economist in the world” being wilfully blind just because he’s offering up a semi-plausible bogeyman to pin their problems on.
@bartramsgob@London__Smoke I had an excellent history teacher in high school, but I used to regularly see him manning the communist party stall on Buchanan Street
@bartramsgob@London__Smoke I wonder how much of the negative spin is essentially down to who teaches history to you in school. From personal experience (and anecdotally) history seems to be the subject with an over representation of teachers with Marxist leanings.
@v_j_freeman The writer edits the dreadfully ostentatious HTSI. Which is basically Buzzfeed for people who desperately want to be part of the ‘in’ crowd. In that respect, the article is entirely in keeping with their shtick.
@John_Stepek A lot of this is downstream of the energy windfall tax nonsense. When government thinks it can decide what is or isn’t an acceptable level of profit for a company to make, what stops them from thinking they can control how much they charge for individual goods/services?
@v_j_freeman Not sure why everyone is talking so hysterically about Burnham, as if it’s the second coming of Christ.
From memory, he was a mediocre MP who ran two unsuccessful leadership campaigns.
@London__Smoke@bartramsgob@TimmyODanaos His lack of action and mealy-mouthed condemnation can only be read as his acceptance that these acts are an unfortunate but ultimately necessary price to pay for living in his ideal society
