Yesterday, I was entrusted the responsibility to become the Class Representative of the Bio-processing engineering class 26/27. It’s such an immense honor to serve the freshmen of the mighty @Makerere. Thanks again to @Ntare_School for nurturing me and @GovUganda for the Merit.

While some political actors and opposition figures send their children abroad to enjoy luxurious lifestyles and every comfort money can buy, Gen. Muhoozi Kainerugaba, the Chief of Defence Forces (CDF) and Chairman of the Patriotic League of Uganda (PLU), chose a different path for his son.

Instead of a life of luxury, Private Ruhamya Kainerugaba was sent to the Royal Military Academy Sandhurst in the United Kingdom, where he successfully graduated after completing the academy’s prestigious Officer Commissioning Course. This demonstrates a commitment to discipline, service & sacrifice.

His example also sends a clear message to Ugandans. It is contradictory to discourage or refuse to let our children join the armed forces, then later complain that the military is dominated by people from a particular tribe or region. If more families from every part of Uganda encouraged their sons and daughters to pursue military service, the armed forces would naturally continue to reflect the country’s diversity.

The UPDF’s recruitment opportunities are always open to eligible Ugandans regardless of tribe, religion or region. Rather than promoting division, we should encourage all qualified young Ugandans to seize these opportunities and serve their country with honour, patriotism and professionalism. 💪Long live Uganda, Long live UPDF, long live Gen. @mkainerugaba and good luck to our dear young brother private Ruhamya.
