During the one-year anniversary of the passing of the legendary pioneer Coach Carol Savino who helped to define what club softball is today in the Massachusetts bay area, the Mass Drifters Gold 1 Savino 18U played with a purpose with some outstanding performances in the Bay State Showcase held July 10-12, 2026, by winning all 5 games and losing none.

Mass Drifters Gold Savino 18U Showcase Stars:
Natalia Faria powered for 7 hits including 3 home runs, 2 doubles, 2 singles and led with 6 RBIs.

Shaelynn Fredey was a double star as she had at least 1 hit in all 5 games finishing with 7 hits, all singles. On defense she had multiple games making multiple plays for outs including helping to get runners out attempting to steal.

Ruby Klos had 6 hits which included 3 doubles, 3 singles and 4 RBIs.

Addison Greenlaw had 4 hits (1 double, 3 singles) and 5 RBIs and on defense catching made an abundance of plays for outs.

Silver Lake 6 Reading 5 (MIAA Tournament)
June 3, 2026. Silver Lake defeated Reading in a Division 2 round of 16 MIAA Massachusetts State Tournament game. Silver Lake’s Megan Arseneau was the hero at bat as she had 2 doubles including a go-ahead 2 run double, singled, scored a run and had 2 RBIs that helped power the win for the Lakers. Anna Craft, Kendall Broderick, Maddy Thompson and Zoe Varnum each contributed to the victory with 1 hit and 1 RBI. Pitcher Katelyn Taylor struck out 5 batters to earn the win in the circle. Shaelynn Fredey had a standout game making plays for outs in the infield on defense.

Reading’s Claire Puglielli hit a home run, singled and had 3 RBIs. Ashley Ahlert had 2 doubles and 1 RBI.

Highlight Plays: In the bottom of the sixth inning, Silver Lake’s Megan Arseneau connected for a double to right field that scored 2 runs (Zoe Varnum and Maddy Thompson) for the go ahead hit and runs which ended up being the game winner. In the top of the seventh inning, Silver Lake held Reading scoreless and ended it when Katelyn Taylor fired a strikeout.

Silver Lake (17-3) advances to the Elite 8 round of the MIAA Tournament against King Philip on June 6, 2026.
