8 weeks ago I headed out of Leadville, CO (elevation 10,151'), pre-dawn, with a few hundred other folks hoping to run 50 miles into the mountains and another 50 back. 1st time, good day, 2nd place. Chatted about it w/ @gunksrunner on the #PainCave podcast: https://t.co/eONmrWAykQ
Great short film from @BillyYang tracking Anton Krupicka's return to the #Leadville100 15 yrs after his first win. Terrific storytelling/cinematography; fun to relive the day through Tony's perspective. One of my fav races I've had the pleasure of running!

@GregAlexander8 I totally forgot that my HS cross country teammates and I used to do this every summer for a quarter mile stretch of sidewalk along a bridge that just collected endless cinders and grit. I also used to do it to a few spots on my standard #Bloomington commute route some years ago.
@StreetsblogUSA Paired with #CompleteStreets design policies, we could reverse the troubling trend of steadily rising pedestrian deaths over the past decade. (Plus, you know, increase public health, increase sustainable transport mode share, reduce GHG emissions, etc.)
These are policy choices.
Insightful read from @StreetsblogUSA's Kea Wilson. What if we applied common rules/tech regulating e-scooters (speed governors, geofencing, size limits, helmets, etc.) to cars?
If we're talking about #AutonomousCars we should be taking these steps first.

@MarkStosberg@citybloomington@IUBloomington I can ask some city engineers/planners what they think we could/should do. Your thoughts Mark?
Of course having safe ped/bike routes for University School students would be great (and following the recommendations of council Res. 19-11)!
On "paint & pray” bike policy: paint lanes & pray no one gets hurt. *Maybe* sufficient if we had all of the below. We have none. cc: @citybloomington@IUBloomington
We need #safestreets for vulnerable users, pedestrians very much included. #VisionZero

@MarkStosberg@citybloomington@IUBloomington It’s a problem. Just rode it yesterday & noted the lack of maintenance and safe width. It’s a tough stretch to overhaul w/ the narrowness of the underpass, but I’m sure we could do more (wonder about an overhaul with no bike lanes, narrower car lanes, and separated multiuse path)
Concerned about energy insecurity in the U.S. and whether vulnerable populations are protected? Here is a new article that summarizes utility protections + offers suggestions for improvement. @DavidKonisky@MattAFlaherty Funded by @SloanFoundation. https://t.co/JoZme50M9X 1/11
Awesome @salomontv episode w/ @courtdauwalter, recent #UTMB champ! I still remember interviewing her for the Quick & Dirty column I used to write, way back when she was just getting started with this ultra thing. 😄

I've been working on various #energyefficiency policy issues all summer at @NRDC, which fits quite well w/ the #energyjustice work our research team at @IUONeillSchool is pursuing.
Here's a blog I wrote on global #buildingdecarbonization efforts.

To get safer streets, "simply dropping speed limits isn’t the answer; street design itself—not enforcement or signage—is the most powerful governor of driver behavior."

This perception poses a significant hurdle to #ClimateAction as people who think others don't accept global warming are less likely to talk about it and take action themselves. See this @YaleClimateComm chart:
