@danrkports and I also collaborated on PRISM, a new RDMA primitive for distributed systems, complete with a new TAPIR-style protocol that commits transactions in one remote memory RTT. Look out for this at SOSP as well!!

@WeedenKim @_beccaharrison Contract college faculty that were making >$40k have taken temp pay cut. Grad students make <$40k & can't contribute to retirement accts. Faculty deserve to be frustrated by extra work with no pay, but so do students! Especially b/c extra work is from poor decision to go hybrid.

Addendum: I understand that ICE is requiring new visa holders to be enrolled in some % of in-person classes. I believe these students, who make up a much smaller % of overall student pop, can be accommodated without nearly as much risk as offering in-person to entire student pop.

I'm admittedly experiencing a bit of schadenfreude at the predicament of the Columbia admin. They've promised students a near-normal residential semester but have no means to provide it because instructors are responsibly acting in the interest of public & personal health. 3/3
