i keep seeing horrible takes on fanfic writing and i’m genuinely concerned these ppl who wanna be paid or monetize their writing are going to ruin it for everyone, you can want appreciation for your work without being a horrible person about it
my friend once told me "I think your fanfic addiction is a result of you being afraid to explore your queerness in real life, since this is the only comfort zone you've ever known" #DamnOk
@SierraLyn91@austinwyckes_@Storyteller_32 When people started to report drives many were taken down. So the owners of the drives now, mostly, are keeping them hidden until AO3 is up again. There was a big one with a folder like 'Blacklisted authors', and inside there were some fics along side with screenshots from X
@desamparo77 Mucho victimismo pero también mucha ignorancia de parte de la gente que mando mails a esa página para quitar su trabajo. Creo que en algunas escuelas no le han enseñado sobre grooming y seguridad en internet
@cloisnford 100k? Try 18 million. Not even all of the drives combined scratch 1 million. And access to drafts is not possible if the writer didn't upload it anywhere
@melxchenford@cloisnford I'm going to say what you didn't: this people ARE mentally challenged if they believe in the word of a scammer that tried to screw everyone (readers, writers and the whole of the fandoms) over.
@Min_saika_ Crear una jerarquía basada en quién contribuye y quien no, es capitalista. Nadie tiene más o menos opinión por contribuir. Los fandoms son, en escencia, comunistas
@jpadlovely Guuurl. First we had writers whining about the drives, then we had writers trying to file DMCA claims against the sites that lets people download fic from links, now we have people talking about making 'writers union'. Sometimes reality is better than fiction.
@ardy_public When i was a kid i wanted to be a published author until i realised that the publishers can and will hold you back from interacting with your readers in positive way. They only see profit.
