I'm not at #ASLO24, but my student Oluwaseun and a whole bunch of my Miami aquatic ecology colleagues are! Check out their talks and posters. @carrie_anns @lesleyknoll @MJVanni
Hot off the press today, a cyanobacterial comeback story! So honored to have been a part of this work with @GBullerjahn @TN_Marine_Micro and Twitter-less Hans Paerl! https://t.co/wlYYU2Blpu
This is such a late post but I’m so excited to announce that I have finished my Miami REU. It was bittersweet but I enjoyed my experience and I’m so proud of my work! Shoutout to my PI @matthewasaxton and my lab mate Oluwaseun for teaching me so many skills!!
I had no idea how much of being a PI was just buying equipment for your students to use for cool research, which you get to hear about while chained to your desk ordering more research supplies.

Come work with us. @UTKMicrobiology is searching for an Assistant Professor in Molecular Mechanisms of Microbe-Host Interactions. Our labs
work with archaeal, bacterial, fungal, protozoan, and viral models in diverse hosts and environments: think of the possibilities!
Sometimes it is not the conditions your thrive in or can't thrive in - sometimes it is how you change conditions so others can't compete: a story of diatoms, #Microcystis, competition and the basification of lakes.

A really great review...I was just talking about the ways this is such a tricky system to work with yesterday in the lab. Cheers @TN_Marine_Micro, @GBullerjahn, and @McKayGLIER
As we move into cyanobacterial bloom season, a few thoughts from myself and my long-term collaborators / good friends @GBullerjahn and @McKayGLIER on why #Microcystis is so challenging to work with.

We at @UTKMicrobiology condemn brutality and racism. With the Volunteer community we acknowledge institutional racism and commit to making our campus a place where everyone – especially our students, staff and faculty of color – can feel safe, valued, welcomed and included.
Year 27 of our Acton Lake ecology research in progress! Truly grateful for @NSF_BIO funding the entire time, and @OhioDivWildlife support for several years. Dozens of graduate and undergrad students supported! #LakesAndHonor@MiamiOH_ResInno@JasonWOsborne @taurocephala
