So, if on your arguement people shouldn’t go everywhere, what portion of the park would you prohibit. Rewild the lot to forest?

@SmalePerry @paulpowlesland I thought camping was the 🐘? We discussed dogs and their impact hasn’t changed by the ruling? 🇦🇺 has National Parks, wilderness reserves, state forests, regional parks. The name ‘National Park’ is the same but 🇬🇧 NPs more akin to state forests where dogs are permitted on leash.

@SmalePerry @paulpowlesland Footfall in the more popular areas has likely pushed some wildlife away to the more remote areas, which are related infrequently visited/camped upon. So, the ruling changes very little in terms of wildlife.

@SmalePerry @paulpowlesland Potentially with repeated disturbances but if this was the case, I’d expect the birds to avoid these more popular areas when selecting nesting sites. The more remote areas, the footfall will be significantly less anyway and therefore less of a risk of repeated disturbances.

@SmalePerry @paulpowlesland Rubbish: wild camping means you leave none. Fires (&BBQs): byelaws already prohibit. Those who ignore these rules would have carried on anyway. Wildlife disturbance: Dartmoor is 945345660 square meters so the chances of pitching a tent on a nest is minimal (but worth checking).

@SmalePerry @paulpowlesland The issue of dogs off the lead is seperate to that of wild camping. Even if ruling had been in favour of stopping wild camping, it would not have prevented people from walking on the land with their dogs. This aside - dog attacks on livestock is an issue.
