You fit in better with 18th century Sakoku in Japan. It was so isolationist that all foreign nationals were banned from entering Japan, and all Japanese people were kept from leaving the country.

Punishment was execution. It was wrong and bad policy.

It definitely needs to increased its insane that we think 85k annual visas is enough for highly skilled work at top universities, startups, and mature tech companies like google & apple.

And we need to create legal pathways for folks coming from low income, low skilled backgrounds. We have millions of folks who are undocumented but are here because they want to contribute to this country and better their lives. If there were legal pathways for them, they would definitely pursue them.

Our immigration laws were designed in the 1960s by xenophobic and racists lawmakers. Some of the largest corporate visa sponsors (Google, Microsoft, Apple, Amazon, Meta) wouldn’t even be around for several more decades. The world had changed a lot. It’s time for our laws to change.
