Fascinating talk on the opposing effects of short/long amyloid beta isoforms on sleep patterns using striking zebrafish models by @GulizOzcan at ARUK London Network Science Day 2023. Great work looking at the actual mechanism underlying these differences
Interactions between tau and other presynaptic proteins in #Alzheimers. An interesting talk by Emily Groves combining organptypic slice cultures with the expression of mutant tau. Expanding on valuable therapeutic targets at the synapse at ARUK London Network Science Day
Interesting overview of Neuropsychiatric Symptoms seen in Neurodegenerative Diseases including #Parkinsons and #Dementia by Dr Latha Velayudhan @KingsIoPPN at ARUK London Network Science Day. Encouraging to see a pipeline of small clinical trials testing potential therapeutics
Astrocytes and neurons working together. Great talk by @PaulaBeltranLo1 on the link between heat shock proteins and tau. Using some very interesting culture models of tauopathy to study the protective effects of these chaperones at the ARUK London Network Science Day 2023
Great talk by Dr Steph Fowler @slfwlr on extracellular vesicles and tau. Striking images of tau filaments contained within these vesicles interacting with a host of other proteins at ARUK London Network Science Day 2023
Opportunities & support from #ARUK available to researchers at the ARUK London Network Science Day. Junior Research Fellowships open now, with Early Career Bridging and Pilot Project funding available in 2023. Fantastic opportunities for early career researchers @ARUKscientist
Kicking off the ARUK London Network Science Day 2023 @BatemanLab at the @royalsociety Great venue with some exciting talks and posters ahead! @ARUKscientist
I will be joining the Walk For A Cure with @AlzResearchUK in memory of my grandma and thinking of all families affected by #dementia. We need more #awareness and more #research. Donate if you can 👇. Thank you 🙏

Thanks to all the team at @ARUKscientist for a great #ARUKConf23. Great to hear discussions on research culture and disease models, fantastic talks and a showcase of Scottish Research. Always good to catch up with old friends too. Fingers crossed for less snow on the way back!
Great talk today @ClaireDurrant1 #ARUKConf23 on MAPT. Showcasing the careful balance between knockdown of a gene for therapy and loss of endogenous function. Its not easy and we need to understand what these proteins do, both in healthy cells and in disease
@ClaireDurrant1 @Lab_Coleman@JemeenSreed@M_P_Coleman Great to catch up finally! Safe trip back to Edinburgh and look forward to seeing how the projects grow
Off to #ARUKConf23 & looking forward to some great sessions on the latest in dementia research. Not the original travel plan but will get there eventually!
#ARUKConf23 is happening over the next three days!
Over 500 dementia researchers will get together in person and online to discuss the latest findings in a range of topics.
We are almost ready here at the P&J Live, Aberdeen. Can't wait to see all of you soon! 🧡
In 6 weeks’ time I’m cycling with @m_hornberger to this year's @ARUKscientist conference....in Aberdeen! And raising money for @ARUKscientist in the process. Please help the 'Mikes on Bikes' reach our funding target and we'll try to do the rest! https://t.co/hSvOYQzuJq
Did you decide to start #exercise as one of your #2023goals ? We are still recruiting ⬇️ Please join if eligible and help research to understand how exercise impacts 🧠 cognition!
