Governor Walz passed universal school lunch.
Governor Bashear reinstated voting rights for over 100k people with felonies.
Vice President Harris can choose a running mate that doesn’t alienate a large proportion of the Democratic base, because this ain’t it ⬇️
Shoutout to @RonMariano for elevating the local option transfer fee as the critical tool it is to address our housing crisis! Excited to work together with legislative leadership, muni partners and @LOHACoalition to get this done in the coming months!
NEW: Speaker Mariano open to local option real estate transfer free to pay for affordable housing, wants to expand MWRA service area to get clean water to future housing developments. #mapoli
I propose a minimum tax of 25% for billionaires.
Just 25%.
That would raise $500 billion over the next 10 years.
Imagine what that could do for America.
@PaulBrodeur2010 We’ll miss ya! Thanks for the many years of hard work on even the least sexy issues. Hope the next few weeks and months are filled with rest as great as your work has been before whatever’s next.
In Massachusetts, Governor @Maura_Healey has made it her priority to address the housing crisis head-on—with bold policy proposals to boost the supply of housing & drive down housing costs. We need action from Washington, too, so I’m fighting for a nationwide investment. https://t.co/zgjOaSG8eZ
The school that fueled the rage in our hearts with ‘Disciplining Students for their Race and Religion’, brings a new story to Malden this holiday: ‘The Grinch Who Stole Maplewood Square.’ Brought to you by: fascist wannabe-dictators using your tax dollars.
Show me a weirder holiday display than Mystic Valley charter school placing a blow-up Grinch & stolen @RideBluebikes bikes in the fenced-off lot of the business they just bought and tore down, and a sign that says “no bus and bike lanes.” Folks they get public education money.
Have Doomsday prepper Republicans never realized that if we don’t tax the rich more they’ll have the best bunkers and weapons and totally dominate the post-apocalypse period? Even indulging their weird world view, seems like taxing the rich is the move.
John lived life like we should all aspire to— he cared not about making a name for himself, but about making a difference. His people first approach changed our state, our country and so many lives. Thanks for everything, John. We’ll do our best to carry on your torch from here.
The Transfer Fee is a critical tool in solving our housing crisis. We thank @MassGovernor@MassLtGov for recognizing this and we look forward to working with them to make the transfer fee a reality.
Full statement here:
I normally don’t respond to anything written in the Business section of the Globe, because we all know who they’re really advocating for, but this piece is filled with so much misinformation and fear-mongering on the Transfer Fee.
So here’s a 🧵
@AmericanAir Also, if “as quickly as possible” is slower than public flight trackers, I’m really beginning to wonder how long this “quick” 1hr delay stuck on the runway will last
@AmericanAir If it weren’t for your intentional understaffing and under compensation of crews, maybe I’d buy that. Give customers good service, give your employees the compensation they deserve, or get used to empty flights and steep losses. @APFAunity as if y’all need more material.
Thanks to @MassGovernor, funding for free school breakfast and lunch in Massachusetts has been signed into law!
We are now the 8th state in the country to guarantee all K-12 students can eat for free. #mapoli
Another huge budget achievement: we have removed barriers to communication services for individuals who are incarcerated & their loved ones.
Under this provision, incarcerated people in MA will have access to free, unlimited phone calls without a cap on the number of minutes.
