@BenjiNaesen A cracking grand tour. Women’s cycling now a parallel to tennis, where the fields are deep with talent and the sport often better than the men’s… and by some distance, given excitement in men’s cycling is rare right now (last week of TdF, when UAE were depleted, exempted).
@LucGrefte@Joelmoliveir@faustocoppi60 You’re right. She was probably only doing 140% of FTP. Let’s introduce a rule that if you’re not pedalling 160% of FTP round a corner, you’re DQ. And let’s get rid of all team racing because teams are dirty.
@SteursKoen@BenjiNaesen@dr_broemme Racing is sketchy. I love this wild assumption that she’s not competing for the stage so she can’t compete for the corner. And the door isn’t even closed - anyone’s racing crit would have held the line. Instead kasia stopped pedalling for [looks…] half a second.
@BenjiNaesen@dr_broemme Has she held it to slow Kasia? Yes, but she’s not moved illegally (in my view 😂). So, personally, while understand your sprint comparison, I think you’ve misinterpreted the deviation.
Main thing is: this tour is killing the men’s tour, as you said. AMAZING spectator event.
@BenjiNaesen@dr_broemme In sprinting you get penalised if you deviate from your line to slow and block. I think it’s hard to argue that the line is clearly Kasia’s here, Gery has the inside in advance, hasn’t dive bombed, in any crit you would say it’s her line.
@BenjiNaesen@axel_herateur Exactly. Make Pogi posting up for a solo win a tiny box in the corner, and let us watch the excitement of Seixas shelling Del Toro off his wheel
@mou55981652 10? Fantasy stuff for Sagan. Only 3/5 he was capable of winning. He should have won 1x MSR. 2 for his career is under for sure, but talent probably worth 4 or 5.
@boblikespi@BenjiNaesen 35 degrees is tough but fine. 43 degrees is a different beast. Even with heat training and lots of support on the road, it’s physiologically dangerous to have people going full bore at that temperature.
@LucGrefte@BenjiNaesen Petersen can consistently do number on Tadej in sprint stages. Tadej good explosive power but way behind the fastest in a sprint. Try as Tadej might to win the points competition it’ll be tough 4 him. all seriousness was upset he shared the love & didn’t go 4 points last year!
@tomdanielson “a show” is doing a lot of heavy lifting here 😂 he is the greatest, but the cycling world is clearly split in finding this exciting vs dull
