Remember the 1982 disco hit by Imagination "Just an Illusion"? Well… time might actually be exactly that. ⏱️

Scientists created a toy universe with 20,000 ultracold rubidium atoms. Split into "bright" & "dark" sectors. Totally timeless… until quantum interactions kicked in.

Entropy rose → internal clock emerged → Schrödinger equation worked perfectly. Mind-blowing hint that time is emergent, not fundamental.

In 2018, when the @ParisPeaceForum launched, we pinned high hopes on its promise. Now, as the 8th edition has concluded, disappointment over #Sudan, #DRC, and #Haiti splashes across a few media outlets, marked by violence, atrocities, and the relentless plundering of natural resources.

Caught between sparse media coverage and high-stakes geopolitics, conflicts flare up, driven by the shifting interests of nations chasing breakneck economic and financial gains, often far from their own borders. The exploitation of resources at the expense of local populations is nothing new, yet today it feels normalized, justified by the demands of a modern world that no longer places humanity at its core.

Backroom deals here, cronyism there, the paradigm shift is global. Privileged ties between leaders rarely serve the interests of voiceless, suffering peoples. During the #ParisPeaceForum, disinformation took center stage, but the real issue is the lack of information and its messengers, which we desperately need.

Talk of potential wars also surfaced, but for millions worldwide, war is no longer a hypothetical, it’s a brutal reality for decades. Yet, this reality feels worlds away from the plush conference rooms. While Vegetius is often quoted, it’s Spinoza’s virtue, possessed by so few, that truly matters here. It’s clear the road ahead is long before we see the collective awakening needed to choose responsibility, the kind that compels us to mend a world slipping further into horror and indifference each day...
