Gonna start doing Google Display Ads tear-downs
First one is beehiiv
Headline: “All-in-one Newsletter Platform” feels a bit generic - it doesn't allude to anything concrete, it doesn't capture attention and it doesn't relate to the copy or image.
Visual: chart + paper plane. After a few seconds you get what it's trying to convey, but nobody’s giving a display ad a few seconds if it hasn’t already caught them.
Changes:
Show the moment they actually want and make it concrete - e.g a notification they’d love to see on their own dashboard.
Make the headline benefit-driven and coherent with the image + body.
Which one would make you stop to learn more?
yeah i run a few campaigns in a similar way - i rewatched my video and it looks like I’m being absolute
i meant to frame it as “keeping max conv when you have the conversion volume to optimize” as it’s a mistake I’ve seen multiple times - which is why I said “when you have sufficient volume”
i see it as a stepping stone strategy - but obviously if you can’t get enough volume there’s nowhere to step to next unless you want to take a step backward to manual/enhanced - but I’d only consider testing that for branded keywords 😄
For anyone running Google Ads for a B2B SaaS:
At least one of these 3 things is likely limiting performance
Even top agencies do number 3 because it looks productive but it makes smart bidding turn stupid
Best YouTube campaign I’ve ever encountered is by @wakingup
Each ad is just a short meditation
It’s a perfect break from video content I’m consuming and I literally look forward to these ads
So obviously I signed back up
Go to their website if you want to get pulled into their remarketing campaign - thank me later
@helloitsolly I crashed out. I’ve stopped focusing on building an apps and started building a marketing services agency that leverages my building skills to integrate AI for efficiency instead.
I’m giving up on apps
It was always my dream to get my wife out a job with an app to replace her income
I got one to 3kMRR and then it collapsed
For this reason I’m giving up.
I’ve got 6+ years experience Google Ads in SaaS
I manage $4M+ in spend a year
So I’m going to start taking clients and become a services agency instead.
I just crave doing work I’m actually good at instead of fcking around with software with my mid skillset
I genuinely think I can achieve my goal this way within 12 months, but it will be harder work, more stress and commitment.
I’m done playing in the entrepreneur sandpit.
It’s time to grow up.
have the seo gods accepted my repentance? 👀
2 sales yestreday for the first time in a long time
i still have AI-written posts, but I removed all the ones that got generated in a short period with similar structures
special place in hell for people who get Claude to write a 5 page strategy doc and then force everyone to read it internally
why even outsource the strategy to ai in the first place?
probably more unforgivable than an unprovoked voice note on whatsapp 😄
pushed my diet a little too hard the last few weeks
diet break is pushing a little too hard back lol
note to self: always avoid extremes
correction: *usually avoid extremes

@gouthamjay8 yeah it isn't smart to get my hopes up based on a single day - one swallow doesn't make a summer 😄
but after my second new customer of the day I checked and found I was back on page 1 for the day
