🚨 New preprint alert! 🚨
Excited to share @maxglev’s latest work on how pervasive sensory sampling shapes stable, detailed perception.
Discover the visual illusion of filling-in and how it’s influenced by micro-saccades.
Check it out! 👁️✨

Announcing new paper from our lab published yesterday in @NatureComms , led by the amazing @YuanhaoWu.
"Network mechanisms of ongoing brain activity’s influence on conscious visual perception".

Cross-regional similarities in aperiodic dynamics? Connectivity related to cognition and age? Come see my poster, “Functional Connectivity in Aperiodic Brain Activity at Rest” (1649), tomorrow and Thursday at #OHBM2024 to learn more!
I'm very fond of JM Coetzee's "The Lives of Animals", one of the best pieces of writing in animal ethics of the last 30 years, and freely available online too (https://t.co/RRXrid6L2F). It has some wonderful passages, such as (1/2):
🚨new paper!
1️⃣ We continue our journey to discovering more about our individual neurophysiological traits extracted from remarkably short brain recordings—asa 30 seconds—this time in older individuals and patients.

📢We are ready to welcome the next set of talented postdocs for the 2024-25 NYU SPiNES lecture series! Come share your #neuroscience, received feedback & network with us. Applications from women and underrepresented minorities encouraged.
Apply by Aug 1: https://t.co/OZXKN410RF
Our new sEEG study is out on BioRxiv: https://t.co/q0JZWprTKT! Using 3 face detection experiments and recording from >3000 channels, we found a neural code that reflected evidence accumulation for conscious perception and perceptual confidence! 👇
Excited to share our latest paper in @iScience_CP with @mlisi6, @iris_groen & @TesDekker
We found profound differences in how children and adults can use prior knowledge to perceive hidden images ...

Great article by Simon Brown about subjective inflation and overflow debates. Perceptual experience doesn’t have to be sparse just because it’s not 100% reliable.
On my way to Marseille for #SNL2023@SNLmtg ! 📍Excited to share my work on sensorimotor integration in speech perception using EEG🧠 Come visit me at poster C81 on Wednesday📆
10 days to apply to join us in this post-doc to study visual consciousness using a combination of psychophysics, M/EEG or (real-time) fMRI, ML & Python 👇 UPDATED LINK to APPLY HERE!! https://t.co/gmeNVQVWId🧠📈 PLEASE RT!
@Wokkinho @jjfahrenfort I do like to use ‘illusion’ for cases that give the intuition that something is wrong, because they plainly show us perception is inference. As opposed to “veridical” perception which could mislead us to think we are all-seeing
Rapid invisible frequency above 50Hz has proven a powerful tool in MEG studies on attention and reading. @TamasMinarik has uncovered the optimal parameters when at @thechbh (manus was in review in NI before the journal changes...): https://t.co/GTcSndQa5R
