Wat ik nergens teruglees is het simpele feit dat de "universiteiten" in Gaza onder controle staan van Hamas. Daarnaast produceren ze geen enkel peer reviewed onderzoek noch enige studie van wetenschappelijke waarde. De bevolking staat - op de inheemse Gazaanse stammen na- volledig achter het Hamas-gedachtegoed. Nederland heeft geen diplomatieke betrekkingen met Gaza, noch enige andere nuttige verbinding. Van mij mag dit kabinet, onze pers doet dat al, zich uitspreken voor de in de Hamas-handvesten opgenomen doelstellingen. Maar dit levensgevaarlijke politieke spelletje spelen over de rug van pogromslachtoffers en de nog hier levende kleine Joodse gemeenschap is puur slechtheid. Dit is opzet.

Here’s the truth they can’t hashtag away: every single hostage is home. The same Hamas that butchered 1,200 people on October 7 signed a ceasefire on Israel’s terms & handed them over. Two and a half years ago, that outcome looked impossible.

Hezbollah squatted on the northern border with 150,000 rockets pointed at civilians. Hamas had turned Gaza into an underground fortress of tunnels stuffed with killers. Iran was weeks away from the bomb. Houthis treated the Red Sea like their personal shooting gallery. Syria was Iran’s open highway. Militias from Iraq to Yemen waited for the green light.

Decades.
Billions poured in.

October 7 was supposed to be the opening salvo of the final war, south, north, east, sea, all at once.

De demonstraties voor #gaza gaan niet meer om gaza, maar om twee vragen:

1: kunnen wij de oemmah voor politieke actie mobiliseren?
2: durven het gezag en de bestuurders tegen ons op te treden als we de grenzen af tasten? Bijvoorbeeld: vlaggen van terroristische organisaties dragen, terrorisme verheerlijken, 'khaybar khaybar ya yahud' scanderen of door een geluidsinstallatie luidkeels roepen dat het jammer is dat Hitler zijn werk niet heeft afgemaakt.

Spoiler: dat tweede punt is al beslecht. De politie doet niets. De burgemeester doet niets. Het OM doet niets. Bestuurders van universiteiten doen niets. Er wordt geen centraal station ontruimd als daar terrorisme wordt verheerlijkt en geen universiteitsterrein ontruimd als daar de boel wordt gesloopt. Dat terrein is direct na 7 oktober al zonder slag of stoot opgegeven.

Het eerste punt is klassiek Moslim Broederschap methodiek. Je vecht je jihad niet door geweld, nog niet althans, maar door het getal. Breng een volksstam op de been (de kwaliteit van je boodschap doet er niet toe het gaat om kwantiteit) en bouw de druk die je kan uitoefenen maximaal op. Voorbij een bepaald kantelpunt verandert de maatschappij vanzelf met je mee omdat die zich niet kunnen mobiliseren tegen jouw overmacht. Geïndividualiseerde, brave, niet-revolutionair gezinde burgers zijn daar sowieso slecht in, en die moeten het nu ook nog eens doen met gezagsdragers en bestuurders die zich al 2 jaar geleden in de schuilkelders hebben opgesloten en de deur achter zich hebben dichtgegooid.

(Mocht u toch de burgermoed hebben om hiertegen in het verweer te komen kijk dan eerst even in de taalrichtlijnen van @MinOCW of u zich niet schuldig maakt aan 'othering', islamofobie of een of andere nieuwe, nog bredere definitie van genocide.)

Wie de geschiedenis van moderne, islamitische politieke massabewegingen kent zal zien dat patronen zich keer op keer herhalen. Dat is geen toeval maar opzet. De ideologen van deze bewegingen zijn hier zelf totaal open en duidelijk over. Die baseren zich vol trots op het leven van Mohammed en waarom zou je je daarvoor schamen? Toen Mohammed nog zwak was in Mekka was hij open, tolerant en geduldig. In Medina kreeg hij de beschikking over manschappen, een leger, werd hij sterk en dus een veldheer die tegen de ongelovigen vocht en de islamitische geloofsordening oplegde. De kaliefen na hem zouden trots en vol zelfovertuiging met geweld de wereld om hen heen aan de islam onderwerpen en in de islamitische wereld zelf is dit nog steeds iets waar men trots op is. Wij schamen ons voor onze koloniale expansiedrift, zij zijn er trots op. Dit is een religie van expansie en overheersing, niet van de tweede viool. En dat is prima zolang je ze daar maar serieus in neemt en je jezelf serieus neemt in wat jij voor samenleving voor ogen hebt. We moeten comfortabel worden met het idee dat strijd nu eenmaal bij zelfbeschikking hoort. Wie niet wil vechten voor waar hij in gelooft moet leren leven onder het juk van wat iemand anders gelooft. De Nazi’s waren extreem duidelijk in wat zij wilden, Communisten idem dito, Islamisten zijn niet anders.
Geen van drieën beschikt overigens over een overtuigend diversiteits- en inclusiebeleid dus ik zou daar zelf ook niet vol op inzetten.

Sayyid Qutb, de hoofd ideoloog van het moslim broederschap kopieert het voorbeeld dat Mohammed heeft neergezet een op een: Als je niet kan vechten omdat je de kritische massa niet hebt bereikt voer je jihad op andere manieren. In zijn tijd was dat nodig omdat het seculier Baathistische regime de moslim broeders bruut onderdrukte. Dat ontsloeg de oemmah niet van de verplichting om de ongelovige leiders van hun troon te stoten, maar vroeg om een andere strategie, een van de lange adem. Dus vecht je met geld, het woord, met ' goede daden' en leg je je focus op het consolideren van je eigen gemeenschap (de interne dimensie) en bouw je aan die parallelle samenleving van waaruit je uiteindelijk, net als in Medina, wel kan vechten (de externe dimensie).

In het Westen herhaalt dit patroon zich maar hier heb je het enorme voordeel dat die samenleving, zonder daar echt over na te denken, jou rechten heeft geven die je in je eigen land nooit of te nimmer gehad zou hebben, want die weten wat jij van plan bent. Hier krijg je de rechtsbescherming om je droom van een islamitische heilstaat mogelijk te maken. Dat is niet ter meerdere glorie van die open tolerante samenleving, maar hun stomme zwakte, en jouw voordeel. Maak daar gebruik van: infiltreer de overheid, het onderwijs, de pilaren van de samenleving, en de straat. En dan bereik je dat kantelpunt vanzelf. Kijk maar eens naar wat er nu in het VK gaande is. Het is een de facto, demografische machtsovername die door de macht van het getal in het democratisch proces wordt gelegitimeerd.

Het grote voordeel voor islamistische bewegingen in het westen is dus dat zij hier ongekende mogelijkheden krijgen om hun boodschap te verkondigen. Het nadeel is dat zij kwantitatief sterk in de minderheid zijn en ook geen uniforme gemeenschap vormen. De uitdaging voor islamisten is dus steeds of zij de benodigde interne eenheid binnen de oemmah tot stand kunnen brengen. Tot nu toe is dat in Nederland niet echt goed gelukt. Nederland is van oudsher geen toevluchtsoord voor islamisten geweest zoals Engeland en Frankrijk dat veel meer waren. Islamitische immigratie naar Nederland bestond vaker uit ongeschoolde mensen die gewoon werk zochten en niet zozeer uit politiek vluchtelingen met ideologische agenda's. Je hebt een kern van dat soort mensen nodig om momentum te creëren. Daarbij kan buitenlandse ondersteuning helpen. Iran doet dat bijvoorbeeld met de sjiitische moslims in Duitsland, maar die gemeenschap is hier veel te klein. Golfstaten proberen met financiële steun voet aan de grond te krijgen in Soennitische gemeenschappen maar dat is een proces van een heel lange adem, en het moet ideologisch ook aansluiten wat zeker niet altijd het geval is. De traditionele Islam uit Indonesie, Marokko en Turkije is net zoals het Katholicisme veel meer op culturele beleving en inbedding gericht dan het sola scriptura purtanisme van de Golf salafisten.

Daarnaast zien veel moslims ook de voordelen in van deze samenleving en slaat een radicaliserende boodschap wellicht simpelweg minder aan. Veel moslims willen gewoon onderdeel zijn van deze samenleving en hebben dus niet zoveel belang bij de puriteinse boodschap van de islamisten. Niets frustreert jihadisten zoveel als gelukkige moslims; daar heb je niets aan. Hele jihadistische traktaten zijn gewijd aan de, in hun ogen, geloofsafvalligheid van de westerse moslim.

Dus je heb iets nodig wat alle moslims, althans de meeste, voor jouw zaak kan winnen. Dat lukt je niet met de concentratiekampen in Xinjiang of de (echte) genocide in Birma. Nee, je hebt een gemeenschappelijke haat nodig; haat, zo leert ook Orwell's 1984, is een enorm sterk bindmiddel. Het probleem is dat er voor Chinezen en Birmezen geen historische voedingsbodem voor die haat is; die spelen theologisch geen rol. Je hebt de Yahud, de joden, en het ongelovige westen nodig. Op hen kan je allerhande archetypes los laten variërend van de onbetrouwbare en aartsvijandige jood uit de canonieke bronnen, tot de christelijke kruistochten en het kolonialisme. Al die symbolen resoneren in het islamitisch collectief bewustzijn en vormen dus een sterke bron voor mobilisatie en komen tezamen in het conflict in Gaza. Het gaat islamisten en jihadisten dus ultiem niet om Gaza, maar om de functie die Gaza biedt in de poging om de oemmah te verbinden en te mobiliseren. Dat vertaalt zich namelijk uiteindelijk naar waar het echt om gaat: macht. De macht om te dicteren wat er in je eigen gemeenschap ( de interne dimensie) op straat, en uiteindelijk in de staat gebeurt (de externe dimensie).

(Ik laat hier even buiten beschouwing dat aan de zijlijn de hopeloos naïeve of kwaadwillende westerse intellectuelen - Lenin's 'nuttige idioten' - staan die denken dat de islamisten ook hun idealen delen. Zoals elke Iraanse dissident u kan uitleggen worden deze 'revolutionaire kameraden' als eerste door de ayatollahs opgehangen.)

De enige manier om dit een halt toe te roepen, is er continue, consequent als een waakhond bovenop te zitten, bestaande rechten die in potentie de orde ondermijnen, zoals het recht op demonstratie, incluis gezichtsbedekking restrictief te interpreteren, en ein-de-lijk eens werk te maken van de op Nederland rustende verplichting (!) verheerlijking van terrorisme in het wetboek van strafrecht op te nemen. Dat is het minste wat je moet doen. Daarnaast moet de realisatie intreden dat het Europees verdrag voor de Rechten van de Mens, dit prachtig en in de wereldgeschiedenis uniek document, is geschreven voor een andere tijd; een tijd waarin wij nog hetzelfde dachten over klassieke grondrechten, waarin wij tot dezelfde min of meer homogene rechtscultuur behoorden, waarin er niet alleen sociale cohesie bestond maar ook daadwerkelijke intrinsieke overeenstemming over wat die rechten betekenden, waarom we die nodig hadden, en waar de grenzen lagen. Dat sociaal kapitaal laat zich niet in woorden en wetteksten vatten en wordt onder druk van het diversiteits- en inclusiviteitsdenken eerder als misdrijf tegen de menselijkheid gezien dan als erfenis die je als bron van recht moet koesteren en conserveren. Het gevolg is dat we al die prachtige rechten nu ook aan mensen geven die ze morgen het liefst het raam uit gooien en er tot die tijd dankbaar doch cynisch misbruik van maken. We hebben dat eerder gezien met de Nazi’s die de democratische rechtsorde van de Weimar republiek tegen haarzelf gebruikten. in 1928 schreef Joseph Goebbels: "Wij willen de Rijksdag betreden om ons te wapenen met de wapens van de democratie. Als de democratie dom genoeg is ons gratis treinreizen te geven en een salaris te betalen, dan is dat haar eigen probleem." Erdogan zou dit gedachtegoed later herhalen toen hij de democratie omschreef als 'een trein waar je vanaf stapt als je je bestemming hebt bereikt.'

Hier, gekleed in keffiyehs met rode driehoeken en met het schuim van de gemeenschappelijke haat op de mond marcheren de nieuwe bruinhemden. Onze democratie zal moeten leren zichzelf te bewapenen, of moeten accepteren dat anderen, die wel een missie, de wil en de daadkracht hebben, op den duur de dienst gaan uitmaken. Een paar dagen geleden tijdens een pro Palestijnse demonstratie in Amsterdam riep een spreker, gesterkt door een overheid die al 2,5 jaar niet optreedt tegens een zich steeds veiliger voelende meute, luid en duidelijk dat het jammer was dat Hitler zijn werk niet heeft afgemaakt. In de stad waar door de vorige bruinhemden vrijwel de gehele joodse bevolking werd afgevoerd en vermoord stond de politie erbij, keer ernaar en deed niets. Wellicht hadden zij, anders dan bij extreem-rechts, de instructie om niet in te grijpen en vooral de-escalerend op te treden. Voor diegenen die denken in termen van onderwerpen of onderworpen worden is dat een heel luid en duidelijk signaal.

DUMB THINGS RUSSIA DID IN THE UKRAINE WAR

Sometimes we do not fully realize how stupid, absurd, delusional, and surreal the Russian war in Ukraine is.

We got so used to all those idiotic Kremlin statements, to Putin regressing into childhood and being not even able to explain what this war is even about (at a current moment), to mercenary armies of suicidal convicts and Russian neo-Nazis claiming to be "liberating" Ukraine from "Nazim" and at the same time denying Ukraine's very right to exist, that we often miss it out how many insanely mind-blowing things that history textbooks will be telling about this war in the future.

Here's my impromptu list of stupid things that happened to Russia or that have been done by Russia in its full-scale invasion of Ukraine since February 24, 2022.

It's far from complete, of course, given the fact that the Kremlin never ceases to amaze at hitting rock bottom.

So, over the last 19 months of this war, Russia:

- Managed to lose a submarine to a cruise missile, for the first time in human history.
- Lost its fleet flagship (for the first time since 1905), the biggest warship sunk since 1945, to a nation that has no navy.
- Lost at least 2,300 tanks by now (including some 1,000 during the February-March 2022 blitzkrieg), which is more than all tank forces of the UK, France, Germany, and Italy combined, and is comparable to the entire U.S. Army operational tank fleet.
- Exhausted its capabilities to the point of having to de-mothball T-62 and T-54/55 tanks that were of relevance around the Cuban Missile Crisis era.
- Managed to basically exhaust the gargantuan Soviet stockpile of artillery munitions (which was considered endless) due to insane over-expenditure that reached 60,000 rounds a day in Donbas in mid-2022.
- Was seriously expecting to conquer and occupy an unfriendly 40-million nation with a 150,000-strong invasion force.
- Plunged into full-swing fascism, a mass cult of territorial grabs, and militaristic hysteria under the Z-swastika while claiming to be ancestors of WWII victors.
- Had its troops digging dugouts in the highly contaminated soil of the Chornobyl Exclusion Zone.
- Was so successful that, 6 months after the invasion day, it had to declare mobilization for the first time since 1941 and 1914.
- Failed to score air supremacy despite obvious advantage over Ukraine's air force in quality and numbers
- Simply declared a 40-million European nation "Nazi" and thus entitled itself to eradicate and occupy it in a war of aggression.
- Had a daring landing operation at a strategic airfield that was supposed to be a crushing blow upon the Ukrainian capital but nonetheless failed on day 1.
- Lost up to two battalion tactical groups (!) to Ukrainian artillery while trying to cross a river in Donbas in May 2022
- Spent a month trying to break into Kyiv and then simply left, having failed the entire war's key axis, with its most elite forces severely degraded.
- As the world's second strongest military, it became dependent on Iranian supplies of kamikaze drones (and likely ballistic missiles) and begged North Korea to provide it with artillery munitions.
- Seriously believed Putin's kin Viktor Medvedchuk, who had spent years plundering the Kremlin money and telling cool stories on how Ukrainians were just dreaming of being part of Russia again.
- Had its regular military so insanely successful that it had to hastily pump up a "private military company" led by a catering tycoon (a former street criminal) and a neo-Nazi, which recruited masses of suicidal convicts and practiced ISIS-style executions on camera.
- As the world's second strongest military power, it re-introduced the phenomenon of "meat grinder assaults" in Europe in the year 2022.
- Spent hundreds of missiles to strip a 40-million European nation of electricity and heating in the dead of winter -- and failed.
- Occupied nuclear power plants and deployed military forces at their facilities -- for the first time in human history.
- Spent a year and lost tens of thousands of men fighting for the ruins of a mid-sized provincial town of Bakhmut (which it declared the new Stalingrad), the eventual capture of which resulted in no further progress at all and was quickly forgotten.
- Had its daily acts of nuclear blackmailing so overused that everyone eventually stopped paying attention.
- Had Putin ribbon-cutting a wonder wheel in Moscow during the disastrous defeat in Kharkiv Oblast and visiting a turkey farm in Tiumen following the withdrawal from Kherson.
- Unleashed the biggest European war since WWII and, after things went south, began whining about Ukraine not willing to have a "ceasefire" and a "deal in negotiations."
- Made the West wake up and provide Ukraine with weapons ranging from artillery to tanks, air defense, missiles, and now also jet fighters.
- Faced an armed rebellion by the "private military company" which easily captured a key Russian city, a key military HQ, and then moved towards Moscow, making Putin flee and ask for a deal.
- Despite all the bravado and megalomanic plans, after 19 months of a full-scale war, Russia occupies 18% of Ukraine's territory (including Donbas and Crimea seized in 2014), and it has lost some 50% of the Ukrainian territory seized after February 24, 2022.
- Unleashed the biggest European war since WWII due to "the NATO threat" in Ukraine but couldn't care less about Finland and Sweden joining the alliance - it's all just fine.
- Saw Ukrainian drone strikes on the Kremlin and Moscow becoming a new normal.
- Had Ukrainian-backed Russian armed nationalist groups crossing the border, capturing Russian towns, killing Russian troops, and leaving unpunished.
- Annexed entire Ukrainian regions it did not even fully control by simply formally declaring them Russian regions and having a gala concert at the Red Square. And left Kherson a month later.
- After a year of the war, lost at least as many troops as the U.S. had lost within a decade in Vietnam, making this the deadliest Russian war since WWII.
- Saw Putin break his word and assassinate the "private military company's" chiefs after they had stupidly believed they could have a deal with Putin.
- Committed atrocities in Bucha, Izium, and Mariupol, with mass graves, acts of torture, and executions seen in those lands for the first time since the Nazi occupation and called this "liberation".
- Saw The Hague court issue an arrest warrant for Putin on charges of war crimes.
- Had to leave Snake Island and then relocate its Black Sea fleet from Crimea to mainland Russia due to devastating Ukrainian attacks, effectively giving up on its control over the northwest Black Sea -- to a nation that has no navy.
- Easily exchanged the Mariupol garrison leaders, including insanely demonized Azov Regiment commanders, for no one but Viktor Medvedchuk -- and continued listening to his cool stories about Ukraine.
- Triggered the worst man-made disaster since the Chornobyl blast, the Kakhovka dam destruction, leaving swathes of Ukrainian land flooded, including Russia's own military facilities on the Dnipro River banks.
- Had its strategic bombers and transport aircraft destroyed on the ground by Ukraine at airfields hundreds of kilometers deep inside Russian territory.
- Prior to the 2022 invasion, Russia got Ukraine semi-surrounded with the largest military force seen in the region since the peak of the Cold War -- and then declared that Ukraine SUDDENLY decided to attack Russia and "the Russian people in Donbas." What a coincidence!
- Saw its much-advertised winter 2023 offensive (for the sake of which it had launched a large-scale mobilization) fail without any substantial progress.
- Made its online bootlickers act as if it's actually Ukraine that has failed with its 20-month blitzkrieg into Russia -- not kinda the other way around.
- Had this insanely hyped-up General Armageddon, the hammer of the Ukrainian doomsday who ended up only ceding Kherson, being discharged two months after and exiled following the Wagner coup.
- Still struggles to choose a certain end goal for its "special military operation" -- be it "de-militarization and de-Nazification of Ukraine," or "the fight against Satanism and the collective West," or "the protection of the people of Donbas," or "saving Russia and its civilization from losing its sovereignty and collapsing."
- During the disastrous withdrawal from Kharkiv, abandoned for Ukraine an amount of munitions and military hardware comparable to the entire Western supply by that moment.
- Rendered Donbas largely uninhabitable.
- Ruined the region's once-gigantic industrial base.
- Made millions flee in terror.
- Slaughtered tens of thousands of able-bodied Donbas males forcibly mobilized and then used as cannon fodder in meat grinder assaults.
- Leveled entire cities to ashes, with those cities very unlikely to be ever revived due to astronomical amounts of resources required and due to almost complete depopulation.
- And then proudly installed its flag over the lifeless ruins and called this "de-Nazification."

P.S. Those who knowingly endorse all those things that Russia did to Ukraine should quit calling themselves sane human beings.
