@MatthewBourns@prince@PaisleyPark “We wanted to use crayons on Davinci’s sketches to make sure they spoke to the younger generation of today and kept their attention longer than a few seconds”
@iamslickrick01 That’s a very, very good question. The idea that some shadowy cast of nobodies are going to make aesthetic decisions to ensure Prince’s music “sounds fresh to young ears” so that “they don’t turn it off after five seconds” is so vile.

@UnspecServices@clarabowfinger@OdessaJack1@johnsemley3000@WIRED That’s great. I’m sure you could take this even further then and maybe you should do that instead of wasting your time in comments sections. It sounds like you’re a Geese head who feels offended that someone might be attacking your taste. I can assure you: IM NOT YOUR ENEMY.
@UnspecServices@clarabowfinger@OdessaJack1@johnsemley3000@WIRED My article came out like 10 days before this one, “my guy”. Also, you didn’t read it. I talk about how it’s NOT JUST MARKETING/BUSINESS AS USUAL. It’s a fascinating topic. Way bigger than geese. It’s important stuff.
@szgoldner Also, I never said geese were a psyop. I was ruminating on the ways in which 20th century military tactics are now so embedded in our daily lives and I found that fascinating.
@szgoldner My piece isn’t really about that. I mostly was just writing about the myriad ways in which the various facets of industry need to charge Geese aura into a spectacle to justify their own existence, much like they did with the Velvet Underground.
@clarabowfinger@OdessaJack1@johnsemley3000@WIRED Well no, it’s not “exactly the same thing”. I credited Eliza and quoted her at length for inspiring me. I wrote a long piece about contemporary music marketing, psyops and geese that had a lot of reads, traction + dialogue around it and now this shows up, hence my question.
