This week I met with Dashers from across California’s 21st Congressional District to discuss their experiences working in the gig economy, the importance of portable benefits, and expanding food access throughout the Central Valley.
We talked about the challenges workers face balancing flexibility, financial stability, and access to benefits while continuing to serve families and communities across our region. As more people rely on delivery services for groceries, meals, and other essentials, these conversations are important to ensuring workers are supported and families have reliable access to food. @DoorDashImpact
Tonight, I was honored to be named DoorDash's Legislator of the Year!
Passing ‘No Tax on Tips’ in the Working Families Tax Cuts helps the thousands of tipped workers who dash, and I was happy to play a part in delivering historic tax relief for them, and the millions of other tipped workers in our country.
Over 20 Dashers and merchants and close to 50 meetings across the House and Senate. A lot said. A lot heard. Days like today are why DashRoots exists. More thoughts to come, but for now, thank you to every advocate who made today possible! #DashRootsInDC
Dasher Denis from Gibraltar, Michigan was excited to meet his Senator @SenGaryPeters! Great convo about Denis’ experience dashing across the state and why he continues to deliver with DoorDash! #DashRootsInDC
It was great hearing from Door Dashers who are able to pocket more of their hard-earned money thanks to policies like no tax on tips.
They earned it, and now they get to keep it.
Our economy survives with empowered consumers, thriving small businesses, and a growing workforce.
@EdWorkforceCmte Chairman @RepWalberg understands that. We’re proud to support efforts to protect independent work, cut down unnecessary red tape for small businesses, and expand ways to utilize technology to reach new customers.
It was exciting to have the Chairman stop by and speak to dashers and merchants! #DashRootsInDC
Internet, meet Joe. Retired after 30 years of public service in Wisconsin. Now dashes to help his family make ends meet. Last night he was named DashRoots Advocate of the Year. Today he's on the Hill making the case for portable benefits for gig workers. #DashRootsInDC
Thrilled to be on Capitol Hill today with dozens of Dashers and small business owners from across the country. They're meeting with members of Congress about the issues they care most about:
1. Protecting the independence Dashers value while providing them with access to meaningful benefits and support.
2. Unlocking main street by cutting unnecessary red tape to make it easier for small businesses to open, grow, and succeed.
3. Tackling hunger and improving food access, especially for seniors in rural areas who continue to face challenges getting healthy and nutritious meals.
We're meeting with offices across the Capitol throughout the rest of the afternoon so make sure to follow along! #DashRootsInDC
Next stop: @RepGLatimer. Britney, owner of Cupcake Me in the Bronx, is heading in to talk about how DoorDash helped her business survive COVID and expand to five states. Today she's making the case for policies that make it easier for small businesses to open, grow and thrive. #DashRootsInDC
Coming to you LIVE from Capitol Hill where I'm here with Dashers and merchants from across the country to meet with lawmakers about the issues that matter most: portable benefits, food access, and building strong main streets.
Real people. Real stories. Real action Congress can take. Follow along. #DashRootsInDC
Why is it so hard to open a business? Taking the leap is hard enough. So why make it even harder with bad permitting and endless forms? It doesn’t have to be this way, and our policy blueprint would help fix it - unlocking $10B in savings and sales.
Thrilled to share that @Crum_Forster is partnering with @DoorDash’s Project DASH to help fight hunger across the USA. 🥦🛻
With their support, we'll be powering 17,000+ home deliveries of fresh groceries every month to families who need them most.
New York is moving to eliminate state taxes on tips — building on what workers fought for and won at the federal level. DoorDash joined a broad coalition today urging Albany to get this done. For the thousands of New Yorkers who dash, this is real money back in their pockets at a time when it counts.
4/ And for businesses across the country, DoorDash helps them grow beyond their four walls. Just ask Adam Moon of Lazy Daisy in L.A. One of his locations alone generates around $500K in revenue through the platform.
