When economic theory is shallow and rushed, the solutions often look like this.
A desperate pull on an uncooperative system.
“A simplistic and hasty model will yield a result at best inexact, at worst false.”

Keynes once said economics is like plumbing - vital, but unglamorous.
I disagree.
The economy shapes society, just as society shapes the economy.
It’s not just plumbing. It’s architecture.
The economy doesn’t sit outside society.
It shapes it and is shaped by it.
Policy can’t ignore that loop. And good economics never does.

We say economic policy should “expand choice.”
I say: it should also promote virtue-courage, curiosity, and compassion.
Not a mainstream view. But I think it’s time we reconsider.

When economic advice starts to feel like a shell game, it probably is.
Models aren’t magic.
"Dangerous Guesswork in Economic Policy" is my attempt to make that clear.

“Private property” is not beyond question.
It’s shaped by laws, history, and power.

Who benefits?
Who decides?

🔨 Imagine building a £ like this—with tools, wood, and hope.
That’s what bad economic policy often looks like.
My book, "Dangerous Guesswork in Economic Policy," is about making sure our policies don’t collapse under their own weight.
When economists get it wrong, the wealthy don’t always notice.
But someone always pays.
