Extremely concerned about reports of over 100 Indian visitors, mostly pilgrims on the Kailash Mansarovar Yatra, who are missing. West Bengal stands in full solidarity with our neighboring nation and every affected family.

The Government of West Bengal is actively coordinating with the Embassy of India in Kathmandu and proper Administrative channels. The exact number of missing or affected persons from West Bengal is currently being ascertained and verification is underway. Information regarding those stranded is being sought and closely monitored in real time to facilitate prompt assistance and rescue.

For us in Eastern India, his unwavering commitment to Mission Purvodaya will always hold special significance. I strongly condemn the brutal attack by miscreants on Police Personnel and Journalists at Kolkata today.

Several injured Journalists are currently undergoing treatment at SSKM Hospital. I visited the Hospital to meet the injured Journalists and personally enquired about their health. I have issued directions to ensure that they receive best treatment possible.
Strict legal action will be taken against all the culprits involved. I have asked CP @KolkataPolice to identify the miscreants and initiate legal action against them.
