I've long escaped this platform that tried to lock us in and enshitify by joining the #fediverse. We launched Bonfire Social: federated, community-first, modular. Now building for organising, open science, mutual aid, collective decisions. Time to escape? https://t.co/OP4seHWU7A
An interesting @ElixirLang library Mayel shared is Flexto, which is an Ecto library for injecting a schema’s definition from application config! Sounds handy for really extensible projects! #MyElixirStatus https://t.co/89U52NonBU
Episode 136: The fediverse is a hot topic! Mayel de Boniol explains what it means, what ActivitPub is and more! Mayel also created Bonfire Networks with @ElixirLang and @ElixirPhoenix as a framework to create federated servers! Lots to unpack! #ElixirLang https://t.co/bDi2nSdqxg
At the last @elixirsydney meetup, @mayel2b gave a great talk about building an Open Source toolkit for federated apps, including social networking and coordination tools, called @SwitchToBonfire. Go check it out! https://t.co/9FXjyVAN3j
@magpiekilljoy Yes, and also that it doesn't have to be a disaster, especially if alternatives have already been building and preparing. Speaking of which, are you on the fediverse yet?
Join us for an evening of talks, food and drinks and enjoy hanging out in person with other community members. Meetup will start at 6 PM AEST and stream online for those who wish to attend virtually.
I'm giving a short intro about @SwitchToBonfire for a technical audience (Elixir Australia meet-up) in a couple days. What would be some things you'd like to see covered? #MyElixirStatus#ActivityPub
@mcrumm This looks great! I've been wondering if something like this would be possible to run tests that overlap two sets of endpoints and repos?... It's for tests of pub/sub API but currently they run with sandbox disabled unfortunately.
@bcardarella Yeah it's early days but moving fast. And shows how multiple different pieces of software are being stringed together to create more than any one of them are built for.
@louispilfold We're building a federated one (in Elixir), but if you won't self-host or find someone you trust to do it for you that only leaves p2p (in which case I recommend Scuttlebutt)
