🇩🇿🇨🇩 History is not just words. It is action
In 1967, it was Algeria that arrested Moïse Tshombe, the executioner of Patrice Lumumba.
When the West demanded his release, Algiers refused. We held him to face “The justice of all Africa.”
We do not need lessons on Pan-Africanism. We wrote the history books.

This is a plea for help: a group of 20 people were apprehended in Tunis, near the UNHCR, then driven 100s of kilometres, closer to the border with Algeria. They have toddlers and children so the need for assistance is a pressing priority. Any orgs/humanitarians out there?
Rashida is witnessing her people being mercilessly slaughtered en masse by a regime backed by the leader of her Party, and liberals are berating her for not bowing down and toeing the line. No. She is fully entitled to her rage. In fact, she’s showing enormous restraint here.
With the Chaos unfolding in Rafah a lot of families are being forced to buy tents at inflated prices after being forced to evacuate their shelters. Please keep giving to these fundraisers, they need it more than ever.
Please follow @Rola_seedo and adopt her campaign to ensure it never sees stagnation again. It is only the least that you could do in this moment.
We are donating $20 to get Rola's fundraiser out of stagnation.

From Madani:
"The RSF are everywhere, they've entered every house. They've taken over fully.
They are taking phones of our family members and texting in WhatsApp groups. We received messages of positive RSF propaganda & weird emojis in family Whatsapp groups."
Since April, people fleeing the conflict in Sudan have been seeking refuge in Abyei. With more arrivals, the situation becomes even more dire without the presence of international aid organizations that are desperately needed.
Key points in the article include:
• In Abyei Town, 2,000 families lack homes and are living in makeshift shelters made of cloth held up by sticks, leaving them exposed to the elements.
• The new arrivals don’t receive ration tokens, so the community strives to support them with the little they have. However, they still go hungry, and famine is a real concern.
• The conflict in the area adds additional difficulties, but there is an increased presence of U.N. peacekeepers.
• Diseases like malaria and measles are widespread.
• The main organization on the ground is Doctors Without Borders (Médecins Sans Frontières). Sometimes, volunteers walk for hours to reach populations. (Please read the article, these folks are amazing.)
• In South Sudan, at Gongoi IDP camp, the conditions are similar but with 6,000 having fled conflict.

🧵 A story that you won't hear about even on Palestinian twitter because it pales in comparison to all the other horrors that Palestinians are facing on a daily basis. But this story happening in "the West" would lead to calls for investigations, resignations, fascism, etc.
“The very experts who have dedicated their lives to understanding the region feel the least able to speak about it. Academic administrations, which never tire of expressing their devotion to academic freedom, either go silent or actively contribute to the suppression of …”
