I’ll tell you why monastics are important and link you my favorite live streams

Monastics are those who take a vow of celibacy and hundreds of rules to focus on awakening and ethical conduct

They are like academics dedicated their lives to spiritual research 🧐

The OG Buddha also said that the sangha (gathering of practitioners) consists of monastics and lay people in mutually supportive roles

Their vows mean they share dharma (Buddhist teachings) for free, and are supported ONLY by donations—like open source ethos!

One question I continue to ponder is the differences bt monastic and lay approaches to practice

To me the end goals are the same, and my coaching focuses on:
1) orienting where folks are on their path
2) give them a few bridge steps
3) send them on their way to receive a lifetime of resources like from trusted monastics and lay teachers

The art of it is giving folks:
1) the ability to discern according to their ethical values, 2) point out ego trappings in spiritual materialism that is common in modern takes on meditation

This is where I’m grateful to have received chaplaincy training 🙏
