#MDFR INCIDENT UPDATE #1: SEPT. 6 - 3:25 P.M.

Over 60 Miami-Dade Fire Rescue units are on scene of an incident involving a plane that overran a runway and struck multiple vehicles near Miami International Airport. Units arrived to find an airplane that had caught on fire as a result of this crash, with heavy flames and smoke showing. Firefighters are working on extinguishing the fire and assessing patients.

Back in March, during this interview, I posed the question: how could we ever explain to our residents, many of which are struggling financially, that we are funding FIFA with millions while we have a budget deficit of millions?

Then, it was hypothetical. Today, it is reality. It’s not clairvoyance- it’s common sense. However, my concern then was a 20 million dollar deficit when today, it’s a 400 million dollar deficit- way more than anyone ever projected.

Our voting records are your receipts. Ive always voted against funding for FIFA - including in last year’s budget. I will vote against it once again in this year’s budget. We simply cannot afford it.
