#Covid19 affected all operations of Parliament including plenary and committees the same way it disrupted all other government and private institutions. Parliament put in place measures to meet the require standard operating procedures so as to meet its obligations. #2020Ends
Despite the disruptions of the #COVID19 pandemic, 100 sittings were held as of 20 December. In the calendar year, 26 bills were passed into law, 9 MPs were granted leave to introduce private members bills and 97 ministerial statements were considered. #2020Ends.
The House also passed the electoral laws which included; the Political Parties and Organizations [Amendment] Bill, 2019;the Local Government [Amendment] Bill, 2019;the Parliamentary Elections [Amendment] Bill, 2019;the Presidential Elections [Amendment] Bill, 2019 #2020Ends
The bills passed were; the Traffic and Road Safety Act 1998 (Amendment) Bill, 2019;the National Coffee Bill, 2018; the Administration of the Judiciary Bill, 2018 and the Tobacco Control (Amendment) Bill, 2020, among others. #2020Ends

In June, MPs adopted a resolution to amend the Rules of Procedure to provide for a Virtual Parliament. This would enable MPs attend plenary sessions & make contributions through online platforms like zoom. This was done following the outbreak of #Covid19. #2020Ends
Parliament also passed a resolution to alter boundaries under Article 179 (1) (A) of the Constitution and declare 15 new cities under Section 7 (2) (a) of the Local Government Act, Cap 243. These were Jinja Arua, Gulu, Mbarara, Fort Portal and Mbale. #2020Ends
In April, the House suspended Rule 24 (1) of the Rules of procedure, which stipulates that quorum of Parliament shall be one third of all MPs entitled to vote; to revise quorum downwards to one third of the cap of 80 MPs per sitting in line with the COVID-19 guidelines. #2020Ends
On 04 June, HE President @KagutaMuseveni delivered the State of the Nation Address to Parliament. For the first time, this address was delivered virtually from State House in observance of the SOPs in place to mitigate the spread of #covid19. #2020Ends@ubctvuganda
