#AMEE2023 is about to get underway - record delegates and bagpipes (of course). Glad to be here learning and sharing with my colleagues from down under. ‘Tis a loooong flight
Yikes. @drmiketodorovic suggests that while we might remember 2004 (before social media), most of our university students are Gen Z and won't. They have always lived in a world with a wealth of information available (so attention is a limited resource 🤑)

An exciting visit to the beautiful campus of The University of Arizona @UArizona exploring collaborative partnership opportunities in areas of mutual interest.
A ground-breaking clinical trial is underway for a new drug to reduce brain tissue death after ischemic stroke. 🧠👨🔬
Designed to be used by first responders, the drug was developed by Professors Bruno Meloni, Neville Knuckey, and their team at #UWA and @PerronInstitute. 👏👏👏
Eight researchers from our #UWA Medical School have been awarded almost $8 million combined in grants for projects ranging from antibiotic alternatives in pregnancy and reducing chronic pain in breast cancer patients.
Final year #UWA medical students can now do a year of training in Albany, Bunbury or Broome. 🧑⚕️👏
The Rural Clinical School of WA program is designed to sustain a thriving rural medical workforce and create healthier communities. 🏥
Insightful panel discussion following📽️The @TakeHeartRHD: Deadly Heart screening. Sharing heartbreaking stories of lived experiences and devastating loss, this film highlights the importance of funding community-led services to prevent #RHD and keep families strong and together.
Currently at a screening of the #TakeHeart documentary here in Perth at the Perkins Institute @PerkinsComms with a panel discussion, including our STARFISH Chief Investigator Jonathan Carapetis @telethonkids and Indigenous Governance Council member and Investigator @vickiwade9
Great work by one of our incredible @uwanews MD students. For Australia’s Indigenous communities, preserving their languages is a matter of life and death https://t.co/9mC1XAdQvc
@anzahpe and @AMEE_Online symposium at #anzahpe2022 showcased collaboration in action! So much fun with @jamckimm Chinthaka, Trevor Gibbs and interviews with @VishnaDevi @BonnyDickinson2. Great insight from delegates on where collaborations should go next!
After the MD curriculum had a ‘mid-life crisis’ at age 10yrs, Lisa Cheshire tells us about the re-engineering to increase diversity of students, create flexible pathways to accommodate for students’ needs and a stronger focus on collaborative practice and assessment for learning
Thanks Dr Joanne Hart from @syd_health presenting on the impact of the pandemic on our medical students undertaking research. There’s a dual-sided gap in 1) important research findings entering practice and 2) student experience as future clinical researchers. #anzahpe2022
My take away from @SuzannePitama keynote at the @anzahpe festival: Health Prof edu is often not Culturally Safe for First Nations academics and Cultural Load is too high. Non-Indigenous engagement and institutional support are essential for an aligned EDI Framework development.
And Suz’s tip for us to focus not just on selection of Indigenous health students but also selection of culturally safe non-Indigenous medical students will be top agenda item of our next admission and selection meeting @uwanews. Thanks again @SuzannePitama
