@joshyoung Really? This is your go to? Take a look at how rare these failures are there and compare with US, think you will be surprised. Early but some news outlets reporting cyber attack.
@USAEnergyNatGas definitely seen more hdd sensitive demand (chalking up to growth in heat pumps). last two winters being mild my modeling did not grow that beta enough. worry summer different. load growth should be more base (data center/ai), cooling sensitive but advanced cooling (water etc)
@analytixAI look at domestic coal prices: on this kind of restocking utes would be buying coal fast, bringing coal prices closer to gas and turning of c2g. Prod and exports look off…
@analytixAI Yup, the US exported plenty of thermal last couple of years, eia break it out. What has mostly swing has been the thermal over the years, depending on export arb.
@analytixAI International coal prices are down (weak China mkt) in particularly in Feb and in comparison to last year, shutting the thermal arb (my math). last yr very high exports (open arb), exports started to fall in last few of weeks, expect further falls. export biz typically Q contract
@USAEnergyNatGas Similar, but look at CP pass noms vs num cargos in 2024, less gas per cargo (lower fuel?). They are also guiding full utilization and language is potential cargos. Upper envelope perhaps from a management team dropping huge amount of outspend just after they had guided for ipo
@Holy_Helicity Storm hasn’t hit yet so imagine this is broadly precautionary. Overall they are in the more outer bands of forecast now, but when they likely made decision there were some scarier paths for them.
