Apparently, the University of Michigan’s College of Literature, Science, and the Arts has determined not to count letter grades toward its freshmen’s GPAs during their first semester, starting in 2027. The reason given is that this move will address the growing mental health crisis among young people. Nothing could be further from the truth. It will, in fact, exacerbate the crisis.
Across cultures, one can discern a common pattern in the initiation rituals of primal peoples. The elders of the tribe rip a young person from the comfort of his home during the night. He is then scarified or otherwise physically marked in some way—a tooth is knocked out or his face is cut—in order to impress upon him that life is difficult.
Then he is introduced to the lore and history of his people, and finally he is taken to the edge of the wilderness, given a few simple provisions, and told to make his way for an extended period of time.
The entire purpose of the exercise is to break him free from the dominance of his self-regarding feelings and to orient him to the achievement of objective goods.
Plato famously compared the soul to a horse-drawn chariot. The animals represent the passions, which provide energy for the vehicle, and the driver represents intelligence and refined moral consciousness. As long as the charioteer is in place, the chariot makes its way purposefully. But if the charioteer is kicked out, the horses will run amok.
Our “suicidally empathetic” culture, which consistently privileges feeling over objective value, has produced armies of dangerously uninitiated young people. In terms of Plato’s metaphor, it has given rise to lots and lots of chariots with no sense of direction, crashing into one another.
Electing not to count first-semester grades toward students’ GPAs in order to spare the delicate emotions of eighteen-year-olds is, spiritually speaking, about as dumb a move as a university could make.
Count me among those who think Kristi Noem is doing an outstanding job. DHS is a massive department that handles some of the most difficult matters. I can think of no one in many decades who has done a better job on immigration than Noem, which is why the Democrats are calling for her head.
The orchestrated insurrection in the Somali crime hotbed of Minneapolis, aided and abetted by politicians and their media handmaidens, is just a smoke and mirrors distraction.
It’s REALLY about the billions of dollars of Democrat fraud. Not ICE, not Trump.
FRAUD!!! That’s all.
Every historical portrait that was shamefully ripped down from Nebraska’s America 250 display was immediately put back up yesterday afternoon.
Today, with gratitude to @America250 for leading the national celebration and @PragerU for its support of these displays, we invite Nebraskans to join as we celebrate America — the best country in the history of the world. 🇺🇸
I want every ICE officer to know that their president, vice president, and the entire administration stands behind them.
To the radicals assaulting them, doxxing them, and threatening them: congratulations, we're going to work even harder to enforce the law.
Nebraska’s celebration of America’s 250th birthday includes showcasing historical figures and events in our most important public space, our beautiful State Capitol. These include Declaration of Independence signers and prominent women in American history, among others.
Sadly, this morning several of those displays were ripped off the walls by State Senator Machaela Cavanaugh, infamous for filibustering the entire 2023 legislative session to protect sex-change surgeries on kids.
Celebrating America during our 250th year should be a moment of unity and patriotism, not divisiveness and destructive partisanship. I am disappointed in this shameful and selfish bad example.

As America’s once-greatest city falls under socialist leadership, it bears repeating that much of America, and especially Nebraska, remains and will forever be a place where rugged individualism and freedom are prized, and hard work and self-reliance are rewarded.
And if you’re a patriotic New Yorker who values safe streets, good schools, great healthcare, respect for law enforcement, plentiful well-paying jobs, small and honest government, faithful neighbors who value hard work as much as you do, and a community with a prosperous future, Nebraska is for you. Whether it is vibrant, booming Omaha or the wide open spaces of western Nebraska, the Good Life is open to you and your family.
🇺🇸
There was a line from Zohran Mamdani’s inaugural address yesterday that took my breath away. He said he intended to replace “the frigidity of rugged individualism with the warmth of collectivism.” Collectivism in its various forms is responsible for the deaths of at least one hundred million people in the last century. Socialist and Communist forms of government around the world today—Venezuela, Cuba, North Korea, etc.—are disastrous. Catholic social teaching has consistently condemned socialism and has embraced the market economy, which people like Mayor Mamdani caricature as “rugged individualism.” In fact, it is the economic system that is based upon the rights, freedom, and dignity of the human person. For God’s sake, spare me the “warmth of collectivism.”
🇺🇸 I’m officially running for Governor of Minnesota.
After prayerful consideration and hearing from so many of you across our great state, I’ve made the decision to enter the 2026 gubernatorial race.
I’m still standing and I’ll stand for you.

Let’s bring common sense back to Minnesota.
- Mike Lindell
Comey is NOT a victim. He's a perpetrator.
He did great damage to our justice system. And he was caught. He's accused of lying to Congress, under oath, about a phony Russian collusion scandal he and his agency helped launch and perpetuate. It was intended to destroy his 2016 presidential campaign, then his presidency, and dragged the nation through hell -- of course, with the help and participation of the media. The lie for which he is charged with is a big lie, and it was intended to obstruct the Senate from uncovering the truth about the FBI's role in the fabricated scandal.
Hey Democrats - if you want to gerrymander more blue seats, why don’t you start with these states:
Massachusetts
Rhode Island
Hawaii
New Mexico
Connecticut
Oh wait, you can’t b/c you already did
Despite millions of Republican voters living in these states, there isn’t *ONE* Republican House seat
Democrats started this gerrymander war
Republicans are just finally fighting back
