Op maandag liet Von der Leyen onverwacht een tipje van de sluier oplichten: de EU is van plan een Big Brother-app voor sociale media te lanceren met verplichte leeftijdsverificatie, vermomd als kinderbescherming.

Wat ze er niet bij vertelt, is dat kinderen en tieners alleen van content kunnen worden uitgesloten als alle oudere gebruikers ook hun gegevens hebben vrijgegeven om X/Twitter of Facebook te mogen gebruiken.

En dat is precies de kern van de zaak.
