Today, Lamka (Churachandpur) observes a total shutdown (5 AM - 6 PM) called by the Zomi frontal organizations.
The shutdown is a protest against the continued absence of justice in the case of the late BJP MLA Pu Vungzagin Valte.
Visuals from today show empty streets and closed shops across the district, including major lifelines like Tipaimukh Road and Guite Road.
Organizers have stated that while ambulances are available for emergencies, all other public activity and commercial establishments remain shut to press for a resolution.

A noble man, David Thiek Hmar, was mercilessly tortured & killed by #MeiteiMiliants on 2nd July 23. After killing him, his head was cut off & h@nged on a fence. The inhumanity did not end there. His already severed head was mocked by the killers.

The identity of one of the killers was caught on camera which was later uploaded by one of the #Meiteis. The killer was identified to be Mairembam Romesh Mangang. Until today, neither Justice is served nor Romesh is apprehended.

How on earth can we still live together with the people who treated us this way & trust the ones that deny us justice to this very day??
